Tattoos in the Workplace Tattoos have been a controversial topic for quite a few decades. Over the year’s people have related tattoos with bikers, gangs and hoodlums that associated themselves outside the social norms. In today’s society, tattoos have gained more recognition, however, they are still seen as unprofessional in the workplace. Many people use tattoos to express themselves, attract new business and it also promotes art. Many companies have banned visible tattoos in the workplace because it looks unprofessional and they were once associated with delinquents. Less noticeable tattoos have been accepted but it come down to where it is placed and what it represents (Pertiz). The regulations of the government have a tendency to support employer’s appearance policies and that entails employees to accommodate to match the employer’s image. One of the good things about tattoos is it can start up conversation and bring in new cliental. People with tattoos can be hardworking and the sweetest people, so employers should not judge people for tattoos that are not offensive (“Branded”). A tattoo might limit your career path but the tattoo community does have other possibility to explore. Whether you’re going to conventions or getting involved in the art scene, these incredible communities have supported each other in time when society wont. A tattoo can actually help to boost a person confidence and make he or she feel like they have somewhere to fit in. Some people are intrigued with tattoos and may want to strike up a conversation with you about your tattoos or maybe even their own. There are still people out in the world who dislike tattoos and it can be for varies reason like: it’s against their religion or that they consider it unsightly but that should never keep you from getting one
