In America today, many children are very unhealthy, and in Coalgate, Oklahoma the youth are required to be more fit than most. The Choctaw wellness center is the only public space with exercise equipment in Coalgate. However, the youth of Coalgate aren't allowed to use this equipment. The Choctaw wellness center should be open to kids 13 and 14 years old, not just 15 and older. First of all, Coalgate school's sports program would improve if there was a public space where Coalgate's youth could come to get stronger, or to get in shape to try out for new sports. Also, physically challenging activities have been proven to help people with ADD to cope with their disorder. This could help with kids who have trouble focusing to learn the plays in team sports. Summer jobs like these are very common for teens in this community. Most kids that take these jobs develop their work ethic that way, but others don't make it very long in this field because they aren't physically able to do it. If the wellness center was to be open to them, they could make more money and develop a better work ethic. Last but not least, having the young people in a supervised environment like the Choctaw wellness center could keep the kids from roaming the town and getting into trouble. An adult in the wellness center would supervise whenever the center is open. If the wellness center were open to young teens, they would be less likely to be pressured into drug or alcohol abuse. Some people would say that having irresponsible teenagers in the center could lead to damage of equipment. However, the wellness center has surveillance cameras set up all over the building. If someone was caught vandalizing equipment, they could be fined for the price of the equipment they damaged and be prohibited from coming
As part of the Affordable Care Act, beginning this year Medicaid will expand eligibility to include all uninsured individuals under the age of 65 whose incomes fall at or below 138 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, or about $32,500 for a family of four. However, the 2012 Supreme Court ruling that upheld the law also allowed states more flexibility concerning what parts of the ACA they can implement and said that those same states would not lose federal funding for their existing programs. This result would leave the decision to opt out of the law's provision into the hands of state legislators. While twenty-six states have chosen to expand healthcare coverage, twenty-one states have not and four have yet to make a decision. The state of Florida is among those not seeking to expand coverage and that decision alone could cost Florida millions of dollars a year in tax penalties. As conservative and liberal state lawmakers square off into a maelstrom of debate over whether Medicaid should cover more people, thousands of uninsured Floridians will be caught in the crossfire.
In recent years, research has established that there is a growing prevalence of dementia among people aged 65 years and above. A study by Prince, Prina and Guerchet (2013), established that the global prevalence of dementia has been increasing at a rate of 7%, especially among the adults who were aged over 60 years old. Research has also shown that a great number of the minority communities especially those of immigrants are having a high incidence of Alzheimer's disease. Similarly, high incidence has also been seen in Caucasian people. In this same study, Native Americans showed to have lower rates of the Alzheimer disease compared to the whites (Anderson & Egge, 2014).

Did it ever occur that America is one of the richest nations, yet fail to deliver proper health care system? The reason why many Americans around us are dying due to the cause of not having health care, because they simply don’t have any kind of health insurance. Now in 2016, there are news of the health insurance about a candidate Senator Bernie Sanders trying to reform to expand Medicaid; even further, by introducing the single payer health care option to all uninsured citizens. With the development of a better health insurance, living standards can improve, health care will be more affordable, and the mortality annually should decrease; therefore, it should be given to every citizen.
Over the last decade, with the rising rate of chronic disease and increasing health care cost in the United States, more and more employers started to concern about the impact of this trend, therefore, they have implemented employee wellness incentive program in their organization. Many of those employers believe that such program not only can reduce their financial burden and improve employees’ health, but also can reduce absenteeism and improve morale and productivity within organization. Meanwhile, some studies have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of employee wellness incentive program.
Health care is an essential safeguard of human life and dignity, and there is an obligation for society to ensure that every person be able to realize this right (Bernardin). Many people throughout the country suffer from health problems but they don’t like to go to the doctor. Some people say “Why don’t you go, insurance covers part of it?” However, the point is that they don’t know that about “46.3 million people in the United States (which makes it 15.4% of the US population) did not have health insurance since 2008 (Should All Americans Have the Right (Be Entitled) to Health Care?).” We as a nation should come together and let the government, the senate, the president and EVERYONE, know that with universal healthcare people well be able to get cure and won’t have to worry about paying so much for hospitals or doctor bills . Not only that, but with all the people that are sick or seriously injury, it can be prevent with inexpensive medical visit in which insurance will cover half the bill. It would be a relief if the president passes the universal health care law and allow people to get diagnosed on time and get treatments. On the other hands some solution that can help with universal health care are make insurance portable, streamline costs and improve access to preventive care.
My major is Health Science (Health Policy) and with this major, it is so broad that I believe I can do many things with it. I believe this major focuses on administration jobs whether it is at hospital, clinical, or school settings. By writing this legislation and acknowledging these steps of implementing, it will help with my future job such as administrating in a school setting in terms of providing healthier food and beverages and/or physical activity. My other option would to work in hospital setting under pediatric or my route could be completely different and work with adults and create or implement a policy that promote health and wellness. I am unsure but I do see myself walking towards that route. However, my focuses are on children
Close your eyes and picture what you consider to be the “American Dream”. Now think about a homeless child and how they perceive the “American Dream”. It is very devastating to try to imagine the difference between the two. We live in a society where most people take the “American Dream” for granted. The truth of the matter is that homelessness is steadily on the rise. Families and children that are homeless face countless challenges, such as finding shelter, food, and clothing. Fortunately, there are shelters that provide opportunities to the homeless. There are many reasons for being homeless, but financial struggles top the list. Homelessness has made a negative impact on this country, and Americans must provide adequate assistance.
Chronic diseases are conditions of long durations and generally slow progression such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and asthma. They are the leading causes of death, disabilities and rising health care costs in the United States and as well as in other countries of the world. However, the good news is that chronic diseases are all preventable. The World Health Organization has estimated that if major risk factors for chronic diseases were eliminated, at least, 80% of all heart disease, stroke and type-2 diabetes would be prevented and more than 40% of people with cancer would be avoided. Under the leadership of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City made improving citizen health a top priority. In my opinion, I totally agree with Mayor Mike Bloomberg that common ground can be found between health promotion and chronic disease prevention.
Many people cannot afford health care. For example, Medicaid is used for people who cannot afford medical insurance. Healthy people do not have to be enforced to pay for Medicaid because of other’s choices of obesity, smoking, and drug addiction. Drug addicts should be left out of the system. Healthy people must not pay for the unhealthy habits of other people who aren't willing to gain any recovery. Medicaid should not be paid by healthy U.S. citizens for people who cause their own illnesses because of the amount of its participants, the tax burden and of the abuse of Medicaid.
I will be writing a brief to present to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Dr. Eric Hoskins, or the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Williams. My purpose is to persuade the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care to consider, research, and develop neural implants and brain computer interfaces (BCIs) as a solution for suicide prevention and mental illnesses. If the technology is successful in Ontario, there is a higher chance of it gaining traction. Ontario officials would have the biggest influence in infrastructure changes due to its percentage of seats held in the House of Commons. The Ministry is “working to establish a patient-focused, results-driven, integrated and sustainable publicly
The water we use never goes away. Planet Earth will never have any more or any less water than what it has right now. So what about the water you use to shower, wash dishes, or flush the toilet? Most people wouldn’t give much thought about where their water comes from, or where the wastewater drains. Where wastewater goes and how it is treated will affect overall quality of life. Wastewater can affect many things such as plants, animals, wildlife habitats, and quality of life. Clean water is vital to public health, the economy, recreation, residential and business development, and other parts of everyday life. The human body can go for more than three weeks without food, but after three days the body needs water to survive. Almost everything humans do on this planet pollutes our drinking water and our food sources. Not only

A wellness program is the employers’ line of attack to cultivating their employees’ health. Wellness programs can range from a multitude of company- sponsored activities in a wide range of areas. Some of these areas are: dieting, exercise, checkups, quitting tobacco programs, and programs to promote physical fitness. Wellness programs can often offer financial incentives to get their employees motivated in participating in the program. (Alic, 2012)
