For example, I learned Japanese from watching Japanese anime with either Chinese or English subtitles. As I am listening to the dialogues, I also read the subtitles simultaneously. After a few episodes, I started to understand some often used sentences without looking at the subtitles. By looking at the combination of my familiar language with Japanese, the new tongue, I pair them together and understood the vocabularies by continuously listening to the word in a sentence or in a scenario. By repeating a sentence over and over helps the learners to memorise. With YouTube, repetition can be easily achieved with a click away to rewind a sentence to be familiar with it. I also chose the content I was most interested in to study Japanese with so that I would not get bored during the learning process.
