In the office there is a policy that whenever a student needs to enter the office they are required to have a green slip that is signed and dated by the teacher they currently have. They require them regardless of the students reasoning to enter the office. In the event of a student going to the office without them the office staff will send the student back to receive a green slip. Say a student needed to go to the health office and did not have a green slip they will still send the student back even if it is clear that they need to be in the health office. The green slip policy is an unnecessary policy, a waste of the students and teachers time and it is a tedious task for whenever the students want to leave the classroom. They do not realize that it is a hassle for not only students but teachers and staff as well and there are many solutions to help make the transitions from classroom to front office more smooth and simple. For starters, they should only require green slips for violation of student handbook or if the student needs to speak with Mr. Capp or Mr. Stearns. If the student is being sent up for any reason other than a violation the class should have a specific hall pass designated for trips to the office instead of being required to write one out for the student. This would avoid the hassle of interrupting a lesson plan during class and make getting into the office for reasons regarding personal issues easy for everyone. Other ways would be to just let the student in the office without a slip if the situation is deemed serious enough or if they need to pick up something from the front desk. If the administration becomes curious they can ask the student questions regarding their whereabouts and where they are
