High quality daycares are scarce to come by these days, however they are out there. There are quite a few right in this area. It takes a lot for a family to have to actually go into a facility and observe for a day. I know if I was a parent I would want my child in the best daycare possible. Working at a daycare for about 2 1/2-3 years, I know a lot that they have to offer and I also know how they can be run in a negative way. A lot of the media stories are due to something huge happening to a child and then people start to back away from daycares not realizing that not all facilities are like that. The parent checklist is such a good tool for parents to use. They really should take it to their advantage and use the tool as much as possible. …show more content…

Infants in most facility are 200 dollars a week. For parents who rely on daycare, you then have to keep them home when they are sick and most of the time for 24 hours or more. That’s around 2 to 3 days of missing work. For 200 dollars a week, it adds up, more so when your child is sick. Am I saying children are expensive, yes and no. When it comes to daycare facilities, the place where your child usually spends more time awake than at home, then I would be willing to pay for a more expensive facility. I would be willing, but it wouldn’t be realistic. My dream is to become a future educator. Everyone knows that teachers do not get a high paying salary, so why I am I putting myself in that position? It’s something I love and have always dreamed of doing. When asked are some sectors of the population better able to access this care than others, yes they are. Even me becoming an educator, having to get my Master’s Degree, there are going to be a lot of high quality daycares I will not be able to afford. Knowing what I do know from working in daycares, I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe to put my child in just any old daycare.
