More people come to New England in the fall than any other season. That is why I am proud to call autumn my favorite season. The main ways autumn is great is the marvelous weather, the scrumptious food, and Thanksgiving. Fall is by far the best season. Why do people come from all around the country to New England in fall? The gorgeous weather of course. No one can argue about how captivating the fall foliage is in this area of the country. About 85% of people that live in Connecticut say that the beautiful hues of the leaves are what they like best about this wonderful season. I will never forget the time when I was in the car with my mother and she was discouraged that the leaves would soon fall to the earth like a hang glider. You can feel …show more content…
Every Thanksgiving morning, my family rouses to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My cousins come over and the excitement of this splendid holiday has just begun. You can see the giant balloons flying in the clear blue sky. The music makes it seem like you are in New York through the comfort of your home. Watching this parade makes you never want Thanksgiving to cease. “Family is the best part of Thanksgiving,” Squadron Line fifth grade teacher Mrs. Butler hollers almost every day. Although my cousins live nearby, I rarely get to see them. During Thanksgiving weekend, they come from Glastonbury to spend quality time with us. Many people live far away from their family which is why 37% of the country flies to get to their turkey dinner. Where can you go wrong with Thanksgiving dinner? In many families, this feast is more like a lunch than a supper. The sweet potato pie is very indulgent. It is almost enough to make it the main course, but of course there is the turkey. If cooked properly, the turkey is the most glamorous part of the meal. Every year my dad either sets the alarm off or almost destroys the oven, but it makes a fabulous turkey. Without a doubt, Thanksgiving is the best
The characteristics that came to shape the life in New England were the rocky, barren soil, the extreme climate and the rich waters. Although there was farming in New England , colonists looked to other means of survival. They looked to the rich waters for fishing and trade. The coastline of New England was very fertile with sealife. So, fishing became a way of commerce and trade providing a steady economy to New England. Because of the rocky soil and extreme climate, the colonists were forced to plant many different crops on a small pa...
Food is an important part of Thanksgiving. One similarity I have with people is that we eat green beans and mashed potatoes. Next, I share having corn and stuffing with a little bit of peers. Lastly, I share having cranberry sauce and mac and cheese with a couple of my classmates.
Mere words can't describe how happy I was to cook. Tea cakes, sweet potato pie, honey glazed pound cake, Roasted turkey and leafy greens. I get to Make them all. Of course since I'm a spoiled brat I had to get my hair ready with my apron. Then and only then will I be able to cook. We were in the kitchen all day. You could just. Smell the richness of the turkey. I could almost taste the silky cream sweet potato pie. It would make your mouth water . Halfway through cooking Most of our family was already here (They were going to sleep the night) They pitched in to help, without them we would’ve been cooking through Thanksgiving.
Many New England states lie along bodies of water. This can also create an irregular weather environment because the warm air off the water can turn snow to rain in the winter, and a warm sunny day to a very chilly one in the summer. Elevation can also become a problem with weather forecasters due to the fact that the elevations of the New England states are all different. So at any one time, it can be snowing in New Hampshire, Raining in Massachusetts, cloudy in Rhode Island and Foggy in Connecticut. The randomness of such weather is the reason why, in New England if you do not like the weather outside, wait Five minutes and it will change… do not like the weather outside, wait Five minutes and it will change…
New England is a geological locality involving six conditions of the north eastern in United States specifically: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Southeastern New England is secured by a limited waterfront plain, while the western and northern districts are overwhelmed by the moving slopes and exhausted pinnacles of the northern end of the Appalachian Mountains. The Connecticut River separates the area from north to south.
During fall, the leaves fall, the temperature drops, and people sit around a table and say what they are thankful for. While we are consuming pounds of turkey and stuffing, the Pilgrims are to thank for the annual feast. Because the meaning of this holiday is to not stuff your face with endless amount of carbs, we should be reminded of how grateful we are for what we own. Thanksgiving was a very memorable time in U.S. history.
...nderstand and appreciate the games my dad and the rest of my male family members have been watching for years, I became that much closer with all of them. As John Madden said “The turkey brings the family together, but the football keeps them together” (www.espn.com). As a tradition Thanksgiving’s football watching extravaganza has become an occasion I have begun to look forward to for months. After spending this great tradition with my father and my family those geezers are looking a lot younger.
Thanksgiving for my family probably looks a lot like the thanksgiving for most families in the United States. My family always does their best to remember to give thanks for everything that we had that past year and everything that we have in general. From each other, to the house we are in to the food and the cars we drive. It is very valued in my family to give thanks before we indulge in the delicious meal that was prepared by so many different
The third reason I love West Virginia is because we are blessed with a variety of seasons. These beautiful seasons include; spring, summer, fall, and winter. In the spring I love to watch nature as life renews itself all around me. In the summer I love the warm weather as I take a dip in the calm lake. During the fall I love to watch the leaves change colors as I walk through the woods.
Fall is the best season of all. Fall is the only season where the leaves change to a lot of different colors. It is not too hot like summer. Snakes start to go into hiding. I love that the most, because I get to go hiking through the woods.
I've always liked Fall. I like the falling leaves and warm spice drinks and chilly air and nice sweaters and the generally spooky vibes. Fall is a good time for me. Nothing beats it, not even the summer. The most important part, though, is Halloween. Halloween cotumes, loads of spooky-themed candy, costume parties, scary movies, everthing about it was something I looked forward to all year.
Snow is a concept that only a few people really know about. It seems like most people hate snow with a burning passion. However, the true northerners praise every day that it snows; mostly because it does not happen a lot. At one point everyone that participates in a snow sport has to hope that it will snow every winter. Unfortunately, our hopes and dreams do not always come true. That was why snowmaking was developed in the 1980s and has been upgraded every year so maximum snow production is possible. The first reason was to fill in the gaps that Mother Nature left out. However, now the amount of snow we receive is drastically less than what it used to be. Instead of making snow to fill in the gaps, we have to make most of the snow we ski
If I had to choose my favorite season it would be a very difficult choice. All four seasons are unique in their own special way, such as the climate, scenery, and activities. Although I enjoy the warmer months of summer, I also enjoy the cooler months of winter. In a sense, I have narrowed my favorite seasons down to two; summer and winter.
There are four different types of seasons. They are Summer, Spring, Fall, and Winter. They each hold its own period in which they occur. Some days are long and some days are short depending on the season. Different weather, daylight hours, holidays, and different events are all events in which occur throughout the season. The events that can occur also depends on what’s the season. In each season, there are different activities that can be accomplished. For example, some seasons contain certain holidays that occur in them like Christmas, which only happens in the winter. There are a numerous amount of great activities to do during each season, but one specific season tops all of them. Out of all of the seasons, winter is the best season.
I love the hot and humid days that makes you want to dive into a fresh and cold pool. When summer time starts, you can wear lighter clothes, which are much more comfortable. The weather allows people to go outdoors to do fun activities. You wake up in the morning to the sun beaming in your room, birds chirping, and the aroma of the delicious food that is cooking downstairs. The outdoors are alive with the freshness of the air, the smell of flowers and a freshly mowed lawn. During the warm summer nights, you can sit outside on your porch and chat with your neighbo...
