Animal abuse is a very controversial topic in recent times. Numerous crimes against animals have stirred up the activists who are trying to punish people for animal abuse. A few years ago a man named Andre Robinson posted a video on Facebook of him kicking a cat, causing it to fly several yards. The animal rights activists burst into outrage over this minor action. He was soon after arrested for animal abuse. People attempted to sentence him to jail time for this petty crime. People should not be sentenced to jail for minor animal injustices, for instance, kicking a stray cat. This essay will describe why animal abuse should not be taken nearly as serious

The lives of animals are not near as important as the lives of humans. Small crimes of animal cruelty are clearly being taken too seriously. For example, animal cruelty is now a class A felony which is on the same lines as a homicide. Crimes that impact the lives of human beings are much more important than the insignificant and irrelevant animal cruelty crimes. People's lives are being ruined because they are being sentenced to jail for harming an animal. The punishment of going to jail is causing more harm to the person who hurt an animal than it did to the animal which was abused.
