Alaska has many hidden secrets that have yet to be discovered. The unique state has a history that very few states can match. Many people risked their lives to set foot on the land in the past, where they thought they might find gold and live a life of prosperity. Today, people are still traveling there to see the wonders that Alaska holds. According to the three documents, the commonalities between the three research pieces is that the unique, treacherous state called Alaska was difficult to explore in the past, and still difficult to explore today. One of the many problems Alaska is facing today is the climate change that makes exploration difficult. Alaska can get to 30-70 degrees below zero, so climate change cannot mean anything good. …show more content…
In the picture, there are mountains, which one can only assume are dangerous and hazardous to climb. There could also be avalanches, burying its victims beneath the snow where no air supply is available, and if one slips, the fall could be fatal. There is also a pipeline in the picture. If it leaks or gets punctured, the solution could endanger not just animals, but humans as well. That would definitely turn away tourists! And the land is also barren with no shelter with temperatures one can only imagine in many places. If one was to get trapped outside in the kind of weather Alaska gets, there is a very slim chance of survival. So, if one’s exploring when the sun sets, and one does not know where to go, it is possible that one will freeze to death. To wrap it up, it is dangerous to explore Alaska because of the wilderness. According to the three documents, the commonalities between the three research pieces is that the unique, treacherous state called Alaska was difficult to explore in the past, and still difficult to explore today. Alaska is different from many states in the US and will always hold the charm that no other state has experienced as long as people do what they can to help the environment and its animals. What will you do to change Alaska’s environment for the
It is an unquestioned fact that the climate is changing. There is abundant evidence that the world is becoming warmer and warmer. The temperature of the global land average temperature has increased by about 8.5 degrees centigrade from 1880 to 2012 (Karr, et al 406). The one or two degrees increase in temperature can cause dramatic and serious consequences to the earth as well as humans. More extreme weather occurs, such as heat waves and droughts. The Arctic Region is especially sensitive to global climate change. According to the data in recent decades, the temperature in the Arctic has increased by more than 2 degrees centigrade in the recent half century (Przybylak 316). The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has been said to be the last natural and untouched wilderness in America. America’s former president, Jimmy Carter, took the time to witness this special reserve and he was utterly taken aback by how beautiful it is. However, when he learned that it may be at risk of destruction for oil exploration, he decided to build an argument on why we need to leave the Refuge alone. Carter uses loaded language, facts and information, and other alternatives to help persuade his audience that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is better off without human exploration.
Christopher McCandless’ long, fascinating, but ultimately fatal journey into the wilderness of Alaska is depicted in the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. Late in the of summer of 1990, a very young Christopher McCandless left his ordinary world in Annandale, Virginia to pursue a solitary life in the untamed wilds of Alaska. Many will insinuate that Christopher McCandless’ actions were childish and idiotic, but a stronger argument would be that his unconventional thinking and desire to live life on his own terms allowed him to reach self-actualization.
National Parks have awed tourists and even locals for years. They provide an escape from the ordinary and relief from the everyday stress of society. National Parks provide insight into a simpler time where our ancestors were surrounded by the beauty of nature instead of the concrete jungles of modern day metropolitan areas. Few of these wonderful parks provide the same seclusion as Denali National Park in Alaska. It’s sights and sounds have fascinated many and will continue to provide a great escape from everyday life.
Many species are part of the endangered animals, and steppe eagle is no different. Any endangered animals suffers HIPPO (Habitat Destruction, Invasive Species, Population, Pollution, and Overharvesting.), and like other flying species suffers electrocution. This eagle can’t be found in United States, but they are located outside of Europe to Central Asia. There are about 800-1200 pairs of steppe eagle. I choose steppe eagle because I believe steppe eagles should not be harmed by power lines and their destruction of their habitat. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a favorable or a specific solution for this eagle. I will propose to you one of my suggestions to help steppe eagles free from being endangered.
Hunters often reveal that being in nature provides time to clear the mind. In the woods, there is no rush, no schedule, and no deadlines; nature moves at its own pace. This interaction provides a deep spiritual connection with the land, the wildlife, and our planet. Hunting has been around since the beginning of time and has been in many people 's lives for generations, these are some reasons why people all across America continue to hunt. Hunting has many benefits such as reducing deer related car accidents, controlling deer densities in heavily human populated areas, creates jobs, and feeding and supporting families. Thus, deer hunting is necessary for several reasons.
Years ago, killing animals for food was part of the average man’s everyday life. While, now a days, hunting is questioned by many across the world because it is commonly viewed as a recreational activity. Many residents have a problem with the dangers that come with hunting. Not to mention, as time goes on, society seems to feel differently about animals and how they should be treated. One of the biggest debates is the harvest of white tailed deer. All over the United States, white tailed deer thrive because of the few predators that feast upon them and the large forests and habitats that these deer can flourish in. However, as buildings and subdivisions pop up left and right decreasing the white tailed deer natural habitat, the debate grows stronger. The heart of the debate is centered around ethical issues, human and deer conflicts, safety, and the benefits hunting has on the economy.
In the news we hear about all the problems with water pollution in third-world countries, making the problem feel sort of foreign to us. However, water pollution is much closer to your home than you might think. As a matter of fact all kinds of different pollution affects us all the time, it can be in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. Pollution has plagued our beloved Buckeye Lake and we intend use the process of dredging to provide a short-term solution, until another, more permanent solution is put in place.
Another thing that will help you is knowing your adversary. Learn as much as you can about the game your hunting. Learn about the habits and life styles, such as when they feed or are laying down. Go deer watching. Yes that’s just like bird watching but for deer. Go sit in their natural habitats and watch the way they move, what they eat, or what happens when they hear noise. This will help you stalk deer.

The topic of hunting has always been filled with controversy, excitement and trepidation for the environment. Both sides have varies ideas as to what is wrong and right. I realize that many people do not understand why people have to hunt or why people do hunt. One of the questions that kept coming to mind is why so many people are against hunting when their ancestors hunted and without hunting many of them would not be alive today. This question is relevant because many people are becoming to be worried that animals are in pain when being hunted and that it is unfair for people to hunt selfless animals with modern weaponry, and with many people going against the right to own guns.
Interesting fact: 86 percent of American adults drive cars and 72 percent believe that people need to limit emitting greenhouse gases (Winke). Where is the connection between American thought and action regarding climate change?
“The worst threat to man is man himself.” These words, from the recent publication The Great Pearl of Wisdom, are from the open mind of Bangambiki Habyarimana, a man known for his work in the fight against HIV and AIDS. His blatant, cut and dry point of view is a very simple way of stating that humanity has the power to destroy itself, whether directly or indirectly. Indirectly, the human race may bring upon its own doom through the destruction and degradation of its caregiver, provider, and home: the Earth. One of the biggest issues in the modern world is climate change, which is directly related to carbon dioxide emissions and the greenhouse effect. The greatest contributor of CO₂ emissions is the use of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and
middle of paper ... ... These three simple things can help climate change stay under control and keep the animals safe. In the world where people live, it is an enormous responsibility but also the greatest gift that people need to cherish and protect. The human race needs to step up and voice not only their concerns, but the concerns of all the animals endangered or not.
