What I learned in EN099 is a lot. I learned how to write persuasive essays, reflections, thesis, and outlines. Since the beginning of class Professor Presley was emphasized to us how important it to learn how to write persuasive essays. Reasons why is because in the class we did at least about 4 to 5 persuasive essays. Each of them had to have an outline, and a thesis so she can pick out what the argument is about. The outline was to show brief of what all the paragraph would consist of.
So writing a persuasive essay was stressful. Why because it was always hard for me to create a thesis for them. A persuasive essay is to convince the reader to believe or do something. Persuasive essays are known as argument essays. What I dislike about
writing the persuasive is that I had to make you convince you that what I’m telling you in my paragraphs are true. Reasons why is because it’s hard for me to persuade people regularly. Also, I dislike about writing these kinds of essays is that it requires a lot of supporting details. What i learned from this experience is how to write a good persuasive essay. I became so good at writing them that i can turn something fake and make you think it’s the truth. Now writing the reflections was hard to me. Most of the reflections we had to write I wasn't able to relate to. The book’s was on religious things. And, I’m not quite the religious person. What I hated about writing the reflections was when I had to relate it to myself. I hate letting people in on my personal information about myself. The outlines is the easiest of them all. All I had to do was create a thesis and arguments based on the book’s we were assigned. Also what I liked about them is that it made me think harder past the book to come up with most of my ideas. It had me seek out arguments that were in the book that didn’t make any sense because it didn't have enough evidence to support it.
My portfolio absolutely reflects my understanding of persuasive writing. Persuasive writing focuses on the ability to formulate an essay that takes an argumentative stance, but takes the opposition into consideration as well. My portfolio also represents the goals and objectives of persuasive writing. The essays I have written for this course demonstrate that I have certainly developed my critical thinking skills, and developed, or better yet, mastered my communication and personal responsibility skills; but, because of my occasional lack of analysis and issues with word choice, my writing process is not perfected.
Christopher McCandless’ long, fascinating, but an ultimately fatal journey into the wilderness of Alaska is depicted in the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. Late in the of summer of 1990, a very young Christopher McCandless left his ordinary world in Annandale, Virginia to pursue a solitary life in the untamed wilds of Alaska. Many will insinuate that Christopher McCandless’ actions were childish and idiotic, but a stronger argument would be that his unconventional thinking and desire to live life on his own terms allowed him to reach self-actualization.
There is much controversy over whether or not minors should be tried and convicted as adults; most often with cases involving murder.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
Community colleges in California should offer two years of free education to students that are responsible. First, by making community college free for two years, struggling low income families can get a two year education at their local community college. By going to a free college people can save money for two years and transfer out to a better college with the money that they have saved. More student will switch from expensive colleges, and come to a less expensive college and acquire their Associate's degree. Next, some of the students will realize that they are going to graduate from an expensive college, and they are going to leave with a diploma and a huge debt in loans. Some people just need an Associate's Degree to get the job that they want and people can get that in two years. For example to become a police officer, people need an Associate's degree, and be twenty one years of age. Last, the crime in the cities will be reduced if community colleges would offer free education. Most people that are in the streets doing bad things are the ones who dropped out of high school because college was going to be too

...udy habits, and awesome test taking strategies. I also learned about creative thinking and how it applies to everyday life, as well as active reading as it helps with college level reading. Another thing that I learned a lot about was what exactly what my professors expect of me, and how to decipher what is actually being requested of me in a writing assignment. I also learned how to avoid plagiarism and retain my academic integrity.
Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like not going to the college the whole day? Of course you have. You think of skipping all the classes, but then you contemplate on the consequences of the choice. The attendance will suffer. You’d miss out on that important question or in some people’s case you’d miss out on the exam. You vote against it and go. Now in the above case you had a choice of whether to go to the classes or not, and you chose to go. That decision may prove to be fruitful or a rather disastrous one, but whatever it may be you have to deal with the consequences that come with it. We make countless decisions every day, every moment and once a choice has been made, the actions play out, and the consequence is delivered. We have to live with those consequences. Our choices and decisions guide our lives and build our futures. Whether people notice it or not, the choices we make today affect our tomorrow.
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.

Still to come: Mars being stepped on.” -”While this is sadly true, especially with our governments constant debts and expenditures we really question the necessity of funding space exploration. Luckily, the leaders of innovation and industry have stepped up to fund their own private space ventures in exploration.” “All in all, to further conserve capital for other public programs other than space exploration, space exploration should be privately funded.”
