Since ancient times, almost every religion has been sacrificing animals. It is an indispensable aspect and holds fundamental values of many religions; therefore, people practice it to keep their religion and beliefs in existence. As opposed to the billions killed in the food industry, these sacrifices have significances and purposes, not just to satisfy our taste bud. In fact, the first amendment of the constitution clearly guarantees the freedom to exercise our religion, but this right is constantly violated. The battle over animal sacrifice is not a fight to continue killing animals. In fact, it is a struggle to protect certain religion from prejudice, injustice and to ensure freedom of religion to everyone.

However, stunning method can also create complication. All stunning methods, including electrical stunning, result in the secretion of larger quantities of epinephrine than a typical environmental stressor (Warrington, 1974). This epinephrine will not be sensed by an unconscious animal, but an improperly stunned animal will be hugely traumatized and stressed, and will experience significant anxiety during the process (Kilgour, 1978). In addition, electrical stunning results in an increased heart rate (Gregory, 1998), an indication of an animal in physiological stress. Even if we can make scientific arguments to prove one killing method is better than the other, killing and death are always painful and cruel; therefore such arguments are invalid; saying one method causes less pain than the other is not reasonable to kill an animal.
