Persuasive Essay About Climate Change

Climate change is a persistent issue that is on the rise, and many people have strong opinions about it. Even though climate change may be a powerful debate among many people, it is still a valid threat because many people don’t realize the dangers it can bring in the future. Scientific research shows an increasing trend in global warming, which is already impacting the earth this early. NASA has been on this issue for many years, and they have made predictions that the temperature will continue to increase dramatically over the years. Overall, climate change is a drastically expanding problem that is affecting the world and people need to know how to take action, think about the future, and come together to resolve the issue and the life on …show more content…

There are billions of people on earth, think of all the vehicles and factories that are causing such harm to the environment. A quote from the following article addresses, “Scientists have high confidence that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)..., forecasts a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.” (NASA, Global Climate Change Effects, 3). In 63 years, the earth's population is expected to double. Just think of all the greenhouse gases that will be produced then. If the overall Fahrenheit is expected to change 2.5 to 10 degrees in the next century, how much will it change when there is double or even triple the number of people on earth? This text also explains the following, “Some of the long-term effects of global climate change in the United States are as follows...Changes in precipitation patterns...More droughts and heat waves...Hurricanes will become stronger and more intense...Sea level will rise 1-4 feet by 2100… and the Arctic is likely to become ice-free.” (NASA, Global Climate Change Effects). This question brings up many concerns for world leaders, which is why they need to start taking …show more content…

This shows that it has an effect almost everywhere around the globe. Since humans are mainly to blame for climate change, it must be addressed by humans themselves. A text from the article claims, “Forests are home to many of the world’s most endangered wildlife...WWF fights climate change by saving forests. To do this we ensure that global climate change agreements reduce forest destruction and degradation and protect wildlife...Use satellite images and aerial mapping technologies to track illegal logging.” (World Wildlife Fund). It is great that humans are already taking action to save wildlife, but there are still many other species affected that don’t belong to forests. Polar bears and penguins are taking a beating from the melted ice. Seals are even dying off, which mean less food for the polar bears. Still, there are many things humans need to think about in order to protect species from going extinct. Heated waters has lead to damage to the coral triangle. This area has over 600 different species of corals. Climate change puts coral life in jeopardy, as well as marine life that dwells in coral reefs. This article hypothesizes, “The Coral Triangle hosts an astonishing amount of marine life...nearly 600 different species. Over 2000 different types of reef fish find refuge in these dazzling underwater gardens, and this is an important place for tuna to spawn.” (World
