Being an American is more than just living in America, or being born in this country. Many people talk about being American’s and they aren't even in this country. Being an American is a way of life that people adapt into by seeing how we act. People all over the world eat the same things that we eat, so that can't really be a way of being an American. To me, being an American is embracing our ways of life, not fighting for the other guys, and loving our anthem and the flag. Every year on July 4th, people grill up hot dogs and hamburgers, and shoot off a bunch of fireworks to celebrate our freedom because it is just something we do. At a lot of barbecue’s I personally have been to, there have been a lot of people there that are from other places in the world. Especially when Ten Sleep has their rodeo, there are people from all over and some from different countries that are there for the fun. I think if someone from Europe were to come to America over the Fourth of July and they were getting involved in the festivities, they would be accepted and to me, that is the first step in becoming an American. Most of the time when someone is being interviewed, they do not let anything disrupt them. Usain Bolt, a runner from Jamaica, was being interviewed when the National Anthem started being played and he stopped the interview so he could hear the Anthem being played. To me, that is something that every American should do when the Anthem starts playing. Also, when there is an important event going on that is bigger than just the town, there are many people that bring the American Flag with them to hold up and dance around with, and that is an act that an American would
