The use of a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors is what Funder uses to define personality (Funder, 2013). Using this definition of personality the best ways to theorize about Subject A, or Paco, is to use the “Big Five” and use his Culture. Parts of these two theories can help to explain certain parts of Paco’s personality. Paco is a male in his early twenties who is quite athletic and spends much of his free time doing some sort of athletics. While being observed in this setting it is clear that he is a competitive person who does not like to lose. It is no surprise that he has a twin brother. Knowing about his brother it is clear that they were close and spent their childhood competing at everything. Paco is the type of person who can be in a social situation and become friends with everyone in the room. He has shown that he does not look to argue with people. If a situation becomes too tense he tends to step back and diffuse the situation. These tendencies seem to contradict his competitive nature. This is because normally people who are extremely competitive tend to not be as level headed as Paco is in tense situations. When Paco graduated from the University of New Haven he received a degree in Communication and a concentration in film. He spent most of his free time either watching movies or drawing. Paco was observed agreeing to attempt to try new games and experiences during the observation. This willingness to try new things is an essential part of his personality and is partially how he is able to adapt so well to a group of people whom he has just met. Based on the behaviors that Paco displayed during the examination of his personality it is clear that his personality can be theorized using the ... ... middle of paper ... ... becomes ever more open and attempts to befriend the person. The best way to theorize about Paco’s personality was by using the big five and using his culture. These two theories gave an insight into his life and how he reacts to certain situations. He is a Spanish speaking extravert who scored highly when talking about traits that would make him an agreeable person. Works Cited Cloninger, S. (2000).
