My true passions lie in a pharmaceutical profession and are derived from my desire to be involved in the improvement of others’ heath, to fulfill my interest in medicine, and to possess the means to explore my greatest potential in a meaningful career. I am looking forward to embark upon my life-long learning career in Pharmacy as I continue to engage in experiences both professionally and academically to benefit me in the future years.
I always knew I wanted to be apart of the medical field, but ask me if I would have seen myself as a pharmacist 10 years ago, I probably would have said no. I began volunteering at the hospital at the age 16 when I was a sophomore in high school, in the pediatric playroom. It set me apart from all my classmates. As a rising junior in high school, I began taking on more and more leadership roles. Going to college, definitely opened more doors for my potential career. Summer after my freshman year in college, I was given the opportunity to work as a pharmacy assistant at New York Methodist Hospital. Exposed to both pharmacist and pharmacy technicians, I was able to gain invaluable first hand experience and knowledge of medications and policies. My main role at the pharmacy was filling medications under the supervision of pharmacy technicians and filling code trays simultaneous checking for expired medications. These skills have impacted by attitudes towards academia as I learned the importance for detail and triple checking. Because as medical professionals, individuals place their lives in your hand, and that responsibility should not be taken lightly.
