I am super excited for the upcoming year in Honors 10. Before we get into writing, let me tell you a little about myself. I am currently 15 years old and my birthday is September 18th. I am a very friendly person and I love being around people. I also tend to be very sarcastic, that trait comes from my mom. There are five people in my family, my mom and dad, my two sisters, and me. My parents names are Jean and Brett. My older sister, Sarah, just turned 18 and my younger sister, Erin, is 13 years old. Sarah is two years older than me and I am two and a half years older than Erin. Most of my free time is spent playing soccer for Michigan Alliance. I started playing soccer when I was four and have loved it ever since. I plan to play for the high school team again in the spring. I played on the freshman team last year. Before playing for Michigan Alliance, I played for a club team in Indiana. My family moved to Brighton just over three years ago. We used to live just outside …show more content…
I do think it is really cool to see the finished product of my writing pieces. The most difficult thing for me in writing is planning what I am going to write and starting it. Once I have everything planned out and I get the beginning done, I find it pretty easy to get the words on the paper. Last year, I liked how Mrs. Christiansen helped us edit our papers before we turned them in for our final grade. She also focused on peer editing, which I like a lot because it allows me to get another person’s perspective on my writing before I turn it in. I feel like peer editing really improves my writing because other people can see things in it that I can’t. There really wasn’t anything last year in writing that I struggled with or didn’t like. The only thing was creative writing, but we didn’t really do very much of it so it wasn’t a problem. It was a really good year and I am happy with the
Now, I not only have a new found confidence in writing and in my life skills. Mrs.Cohen provided proper feedback and guidance with each assignment. Due to this, my writing confidence flourished. Without this course, not to mention the teacher, I would not even think about applying for dual enrollment. I certainly feel I have improved in English classes and my passion was rekindled. Mrs.Cohen made me find the enjoyment in writing again and inspired me to be myself. I wish to keep my work ethic, strong to become successful while being myself and I will be forever thankful for
My relationship with writing has been much like roller coaster. Some experiences I had no control over. Other experiences were more influential. Ultimately it wasn’t until I started reading not because I had to read but because I wanted to, that's when my relationship reached change. I would have probably never cared about writing as I do today if it weren't for the critics in my family. When I was a child, my aunts and uncles always been in competition with who's child is better in school. I have always hated reading and writing because of the pressure to prove my family wrong was overwhelming for me. I had to prove them wrong and show them that I was capable of being "smart" which according to them was getting straight A's in all your classes.
I wanted to thank Ms. Geary for reminding me how much writing can do for me. It helped me realize that writing isn’t so horrible but it is just hard work. My writing skills have improved due to this class and all Ms. Geary had taught me. She made class fun with her inflections and just the way she says everything, her personality definitely showed through. I looked forward to class but never the homework. Finally after reading over my final drafts of: My Past as a Writer, Problematic Essay and my Exploratory Research Paper I realize that I have dramatically improved my writing skills in every draft thanks to revisions and some positive criticism for Ms. Geary. I think I am now ready to take on the next step in the English world.
I learned from my peers that I am a better writer than I thought I was and that increased my confidence in my writing ability. This didn’t just teach me about myself; I learned how to write several different types of papers. I improved throughout the semester as I learned how to analyze for rhetorical appeals, research an issue, and evaluate a topic. I am glad that I was able to learn a lot from this class, as well as read my peers work. It was intriguing to see how others write and what topic are important to them. Lastly, I was proud of all my work that I accomplished in this
Although many will argue that great writing will require time and practice, opponents claim that great writing is like a puzzle which means one can put the pieces together to create an astonishing puzzle. This was the case when I was a 10th grade. As a tyro, I didn’t know much about writing elements and styles. Fortunately, one of my English teachers, Mrs. Roberson, change my outlook on writing. She taught me countless techniques. From that point, I started reading books to increase my knowledge and vocabulary. This was an incredibly wondrous experience for me. I was learning new information while expanding my learning capacity. This was stupendous. It was a life-changing moment for me. Throughout my high school journey,
I really haven't been writing this years at all but i've been writing on some journal entries that ask me all different questions on different stuff. Only reason why is because i haven't really been there for the writing because i came to the school almost beginning of april and since then we haven't really wrote anything and i just got suspended like 2 weeks ago and so ya i really haven't been there for nothing.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
Also, I'm patiently waiting to finish my junior year so I can do activities that seniors do before graduating. When that day come I'm going to be delirious with joy.Seniors do activities such as water parks, bowling, and some seniors take trips to Disney World. This year has been great, like when the time I received awards for having the highest average in many subjects. My junior year in high school is slowly coming to an end, which I am really excited about that I'm really close to completing high school.Jada, which is my best friend, who is also a junior in high school. I'm patiently waiting to take my senior
There are many different types of events that shape who we are as writers and how we view literacy. Reading and writing is viewed as a chore among a number of people because of bad experiences they had when they were first starting to read and write. In my experience reading and writing has always been something to rejoice, not renounce, and that is because I have had positive memories about them.
Your class is always my favorite class because every single day you make me laugh. Being in your presents for 9 months have been the most confusing yet still amazing 9 months ever. I always try and will always try my hardest to make you proud and make you see that all your hard work has paid off. Lookout in 2022 because your going to be receiving a lot of graduation invitations. Third, I would like to say your welcome.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class, I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work to see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded.
Most of my writings have been those of the classroom assignment variety. The assignments consist of free writes, essays, research and term papers, but none of these come to mind as an experience worth noting. I never had a writing published or received any type of an award. I seldom did any wrtiting out of school, or writing for leisure as some might say. The bottom line is, I just don't have te time to write for leisure, with a full time job, attending night school, and raising two children, my day are consumed rapidly. If I did have the time to sit down and write, I'm not sure that I would write. I keep most of my thoughts to myself, not on paper. Although it does feel nice to express my thoughts and feelings onto the page. I can see my thoughts unfold, and I can organize them to develop new ideas.
Before turning it in, I had read through the piece twice and felt like I had shaped it into its final form. My essay was then given to Noah Kelleher for peer revision. He effectively responded to my piece and played a key role in processing my work. Noah commended me for much of my work and moved me to feel proud about what I produced. With his praise came valuable suggestions and improvements that cleaned up my writing.
Reading and writing have been and always will be a part of my life. At a very young age I used to love the both of them. I would write stories about monsters and fantasy worlds and I would read about them too. Slowly as I grew older my ability to write so creatively just withered away. Writing soon became only for school purposes. My love for reading continued, but I was no longer reading about the fantasy worlds with unicorns and fairies, instead I became keen to reading crime fiction. Although I had a love for it, it no longer became something I would do daily, it is now done whenever I have the chance to.
An unknown person has said, “to write means more than putting pretty words on a page; the act of writing is to share a part of your soul with the world.” A pencil is an important facet to me because it is my way of expressing myself. It has helped me through wonderful and awful times.
