Personal Narrative: My Success At Vanguard College

In High school, I was a very passive student, I often struggled with discipline a lot. I usually tend to be a constant procrastinator and ending up with poor marks because of it. For this reason, I know that my procrastination due to lack of discipline can it can potentially hinder my success at Vanguard College. Therefore, I came up with strategies and certain things that need to change in my life so that I can succeed at Vanguard College. These include cultivating discipline, ending procrastination through better time management and identifying my strengths and weaknesses.
As I am doing a self-assessment to see which area in my life I can use more discipline in, I realize how much time I waste surfing the internet, countless hours of browsing and reading random blogs lead to procrastination. I am using it as a distraction and diversion on the things that I should be doing such as reading or writing this essay. Although creating putting together a schedule following through it is another story. I often find myself struggling with keeping my schedule and do something opposite instead. I decided to work with other students to help me focus and stick to my schedule and turn it into a routine. Scheduling the study time in the library or in a Starbucks also helps the process of getting my study done. Warburton gave me this idea when he said “Start with small, achievable goals, like writing for ten minutes or completing a paragraph, and then have a cup of coffee, a snack or a break.” (16).
