Personal Narrative: My Last Football Game

The nerves are fuming, mainly in my stomach as the butterflies flutter till no end. “Will everything go to plan? Will our team succeed?” I can not stop thinking about what might happen. Images were racing through my head about my teammates suffering pain on the day. The feeling of desire, and motivation were beliefs running through the coaches and players heads. The last time we played our rivals we lost to them by over 180 points. There is nothing worst than that impression of weakening your school by a massive defeat. It was the day before I played my last football game for the school. Our team were going to play our rivals, a battle we had persistently prepared for since pre-season. The sun was smearing on the back of my neck, radiating the heat to make practice seem inferior. I was exhausted and looking forward to the end of my last sweat poring practice for the year. The greatest game of my life has arrived. Playing on the half forward flank allowed me to create fast run from stoppages. As the shiny sherrin floated into our forward half I grabbed the ball at the highest point. The nerves were all gone when I marked the ball. Lining up for the first goal of the game was an uneasy challenge. As I was walking in to kick the goal the animals were chanting discourteous calls about our school. As it left my black boot it was up to nature to decide if it was going through the tall sticks. Unfortunately it missed to the left side by a metre, I felt frustrated, as my dream could have become a reality. As the game played on I was so proud of the effort and exertion the team was showing.
