My first haunted house It was the weekend and my dad was gone for the weekend. It was October and very close to Halloween. Me, my friend Tre, and his auntie Stephanie went out to get pizza at papa johns. When we got to Papa Johns we got three toppings savory sausage, crunchy green bell peppers, delicious bacon, and melty mozzarella cheese. But we had to wait 20 minutes for them to make the pizza so we went into his auntie Stephanie’s white infinity and went to my house. While we waited for the pizza at the house we played my Xbox 360 we played Modern Warfare 3. Then we went to get the pizza at Papa Johns, I had to hold the pizza until we got back to my house Tre and I ate most of the pizza because his aunt was on a diet and she wasn't hungry but she still ate some toppings. Then we got back into the car and she started driving then she said that there was a haunted house at the police …show more content…
Then we walked into a curved hallway and we walked into a room with humanoids being killed like people in a mental hospital because they are to crazy. Then we started walking into a room with possessed girls and they were singing then an old tv came on and a man said get them and they girls started coming at us and then we walked into another room. When we walked into this room I thought that we were outside as we kept walking there was the sound of a chainsaw I turned around and I realized that a lunatic was chasing us with a chainsaw the girls behind me screaming and were pushing us. Then we finally got out of there and Tre started talking to some people from his school so I made him follow me back to the car because I was ready to leave. So we went into the car and and went back into the house when we got back we builded a fort and we played on our phones until we eventually went to
The Haunting of Hill House is a gothic horror novel written by Shirley Jackson. Supernatural occurrences take place within the house revolving around Eleanor. Eleanor is a thirty-two-year-old woman who never once has felt the sense of inclusion. Eleanor seems to never recall the feeling of delight in her adult years due to the fact that she was a caretaker for her now deceased Mother; who took away most of her freedom by being incredibly restrictive. Dr. Montague, a doctor that specializes in analysis of the supernatural rents Hill House, a supposedly haunted house. During the renting period, Dr. Montague begins an experiment inviting individuals who have had involvement in abnormal events
The Nelly Butler hauntings is referred to as the first recorded ghost story in American history (LiBrizzi 5), and possibly the most exciting hauntings to date as there are still many unsolved mysteries. The apparition appeared on more than 30 separate occasions to over 100 witnesses in Sullivan, Maine, just over fifteen years after the American Revolution (5-6). Although the Nelly Butler apparition is one of the most convincing ghosts of all time, it was subject to suspicions of fraud. These claims turn out to be groundless as the evidence reveals the ghost to be genuine.
Eight minutes later, I face an unknown woman’s bedroom door, a shopping bag with three silk scarves dangling from one hand. On the trudge upstairs, I re-examined the wisdom of my decision. Being unresponsive to her generosity would seem suspicious. In contemporary Germany, jousting out of wedlock is an unconfessed national sport. Even in Munich.

We looked up and saw people walking up the pathway from the bunker door, they looked like the man at the door. The man was looking around the house trying to see if anyone was home, then he looked up at the bay window, "AH" Tonya screamed, the man had no face, it was only skin we both screamed in terror, he heard us and signaled the men walking up the driveway to come faster. There was a log a black log that two of the people were holding but it was made of metal. They swung it at the door and the door broke open like a twig they rushed into the house and up the stairs. Me and Tonya escaped out of an openable window in the closet. We ran down the driveway as fast as we could to get to the bunker door, we saw helmets at the door so we crawled into the wheat fields, we hid for days when we got hungry we went around to try and find the secret strawberry patch. The guards never moved not a budge, so we thought what if they were fake? So two days after we found the strawberry patch we went right next to the guards and stood up right in front of their face and they didn't move so we punched them, they fell over life
When I stepped inside the haunted house, I thought I was going to die. The first step I took, I knew it wasn’t going to end well. I started walking in the haunted house alone because all the people I came with left me to go find something to eat. I was welcomed by this very frightening man with a very frightening chainsaw in his giant hand. I continued to walk along until I got stopped by another man that was even scarier than the last. He told me not to be scared, but I was terrified!
When you hear the word haunted you probably think of a haunted house or a haunted mansion. The exact definition of haunted is a place frequented by a ghost. But haunted can mean so much more. Haunted can be a feeling, a place, or a state of mind. Some carry the haunted feeling around with them. They bring it with them wherever they go.
Ghost Stories Ghost stories revolve around lots of Spooky tales that work on displacing the reader's fear. Some of the main techniques which make them successful involve: Fear, Drama, Danger and Suspense. However, the main idea is that they create tension too. Such stories which use tension to dramatic affect are "The Red Room" by H.G. Wells and "Farthing House" by Susan Hill; both are written in first person narrative to allow the reader to get scared along with the main character. Both stories also build tension through their Style, Setting, Structure and Language.
Human beings are diverse in what they like, dislike, and share with each other. As reality has shown human beings have emotions that either tell one to laugh or run away. Emotions are not usually controlled and when one has an opposite reaction to the emotion present it creates a question about why. Fear, for instance, is an emotion that usually elicits a fight or flight response. When fear elicits enjoyment, something deeper about our emotions are at work. The enjoyment of fear is also a topic with little information. If you research this you find a lot of qualitative information, but hardly any quantitative research. My research question is how is fear enjoyed in haunted houses.
I jumped out of the car with my two sisters and ran to the bathroom. When we left the bathroom, we walked back to the car. We saw that our dad was still putting gas in the car, so we went into the store to buy some sweets. I bought “warheads” that said extremely sour, and a bag of chips called “baked with fire” that looked like they would taste really hot. When we purchased our food, we walked back to the car. As soon as we started driving, I opened my bag of chips. I was so scared that they would be extremely hot. For that reason, I also bought a bottle of water. I opened it before I took a bite out of the chip. Luckily, they were not hot at all! I grabbed my sour candy and tasted it. My face changed so quickly; that I started to squint my eyes and point my lips. I could not take another bite of it because it was really sour! Eventually, I was not hungry anymore. Probably because I ate my whole bag of chips and a sandwich. When I finished eating, I was feeling exhausted, so I took a long nap. I woke up, and dad told me that we only needed to drive for one more hour. While we were driving through town, we saw a row of trees on fire! It was so smoky that we could barely see the street we were driving on. I felt scared for life and terrified that we might crash. After a few more minutes of driving, the smoke cleared up and we could see again. Finally, the hour passed and we arrived in California. Mrs.
When I was younger I couldn’t imagine going to a haunted house with my Uncle Jon, Aunt Sam, and my four cousins Khristian, Jazmine, Felicity, and Lizzie who seem to not be afraid of anything when you were eight years old. I can because it happened to me. It seemed like I was the only one nervous on the drive up to the terrifying haunted house. As we got closer and I could tell this was going to be an eventful night.
Ghost stories are a truly timeless form of literature, the ghost, like death, has no end. Stories of the supernatural date back to early ancient manuscripts involving mythology, legend, and religion. The past few centuries have seen the supernatural flourish in Gothic romanticism through tales of fantastic creatures, demonic forces, and parallel dimensions (Scarborough). Interest in the other-worldly has provoked many stories involving the interaction between the living and the returning dead. The well-engineered ghost stories of M.R. James seem to arouse these eerie skin tingling feelings. Techniques aimed at involving the readers awareness James's narrative and folkloric superstitions in “the mezzotint” engage the reader's imagination and psyche. The realistic settings, supernatural elements, and sensational fiction that is doused in mystery, builds anticipation. James's clear an intelligent knowledge of human nerves elicits fear, excitement, and curiosity through imagery, the uncanny, and subtle suggestions that transform into personal supernatural experiences. The oratory nature of James's stories bring the characters and the drama to life and constructs fear in the reader with disembodied texuality; “fearing that these words on the page might spring to life” (Mulbey-Roberts 236).
Life is a series of frequent changes. At some point in life one will be tossed into circumstances that urges one to make decisive life choices and adjust particular behavior for the aim of becoming a better form of oneself. Despite one’s recognition that modifications have to be done, the process of changing is difficult. Thus, some individuals are scared to change and refuse to do so. In “ A Rose for Emily”, William Faulkner uses literary tools such as the setting, symbolisms and the conflicts to develop his theme that fixation of the past will wound one’s present. Falkner exemplified that changes are inevitable and refusal to accept the progression will only result in decadence that eventually will induce negative effects in one’s life.
