Finishing college was always a goal of mine in life, but along the way I ran into some obstacles that tried to tear me down, or direct me to another path. I graduated high school at the age of seventeen, started college at eighteen, and was a single mom by nineteen. I started my college career majoring in early childhood education. I thought I wanted to teach special needs students, then soon realized common core was not for me. In January of 2014 I found out I was being blessed with a baby! Come August the fourth I had a beautiful little girl. I started a full time job as a loan officer, and honestly its not my favorite place to work in the world, but it’s a job and it pays the bills. In high school I took a criminal justice course and absolutely fell in love, just never perused it. I didn’t realize all the options there was in criminal justice, all I saw was the law enforcement side, but I found there is a lot more to it. I knew I needed to go back to college, just didn’t want to go back to SELU, so I prayed and asked God what did I need to do. Then one day my mom calls me and says K-LOVE is offering one thousand dollar scholarships, so I applied for it. As time went on and I talked more with my advisor I realized this is exactly where I needed to be. All my life I've been a Christian but never really hung out with the best of people. This college has already started to help me have a stronger faith in God. Its so encouraging to go to a school where you reminded daily Gods love and why I need to be successful.

I plan to be a better student this time around, I plan to not procrastinate, or let life get
