Personal Narrative: 8 Mile

The movie 8 Mile has always been a favorite of mine, when I watch the movie it reminds me of myself and where I have come from, except the fact that I do not live in a trailer, our struggles are the same. I had a choice one day between settling and living a normal life or shoot for the stars and try and be someone. When I faced that choice I chose to try and make something of my life. I am not real smart, but I am good with words and when I start writing I cannot stop. When you look at the words you see a rap full of cursing and violence but if you listen they all tell a story full of pain and suffering. Those words got a way of bringing you up or slamming you down. I have a gift and my gift is music when I write it goes together like a masterpiece

Giving my family a break and a dream has always been a priority of mine. Deep inside I have never wanted anything more then seeing their face of excitement and surprise that I have achieved what I have always talked about and dreamed about. The movie represented a young man wanting more out of his life then what his mother could give him. He wanted to succeed on his own and making music was part of his dream and his struggle of singing in front of others kept him from going anywhere. He soon surpassed the issue and went on to be one of the famous rappers there has been. My

2 dream our reaching the same outcome has roadblocks of people that make fun of me and laugh thinking I cannot succeed and reach my dreams of being someone who does something they enjoy instead of something that they dread.

I am a living proof that good comes to those who wait, and good comes to those who try.

Living up to my dream and giving my family a sense of relief and achieving my goal is not a option of giving in. I will not settle for less and I will continue to reach for the stars despite the negative remarks from those that do not know my character, and I will continue to fight for a different life other than settling for the one others think I will
