My personality ENTJ that's it, but what is that exactly? According to the Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test online I am a slight extravert, intuitive, thinking and judging person. Some might even say I am arrogant and straightforward which and I tend to be “on-duty” all the time which are also traits that were affirmed. I feel sure they did not score my answers correctly as I consider myself more an introvert. Before I began taking the online test I thought I was an open-minded and optimistic person with tendencies to be more creative versus organized with a high preference for introversion, but, after careful reading I was an introvert but have now pushed myself to become a slight extrovert with the test results leaving me feeling empowered that the traits I actually strive for are becoming my beliefs. According to the online Webster dictionary personality is as defined as “that which constitutes distinction of person; the externally evident aspects of the character or behavior of a person; individuality”. (Webster, 2013) Personality types and traits have been a topic of debate for many years and continue to be defined by theorists, psychologists, physicians, priests, pastors and pretty much anyone with an opinion. “The theory of psychological type was introduced in the 1920s by Carl G. Jung while The Myers Briggs Type Indicator tool was not developed until the 1940s by Isabel Briggs Myers and continues today. (Myers Briggs, 2003) Many personality tests are available but the MBTI has been adopted as the industry standard. Another personality test is The Five-Factor model of personality is one of the more prominent models in contemporary psychology (Digman, 1990). The first personality test was the basic personality test. The assessment from the basic personality type indicated that my personality classification is an ESTJ (Llorens, 2010). The results found that I am more extroverted than introverted; I tend to be more sensing than intuitive, more of a thinker versus a feeling individual, and I am judging versus perceiving. The interpretation indicated that I am realistic, logical, analytical, decisive, organized, and I like to run things. The results were interesting, the analysis and interpretation was extremely accurate to my tendencies and my current role in my organization. The result provided me with insight to my tendencies and approaches to situations that I face each day as a leader in a multi-faceted organization (Llorens, 2010). Additionally the results indicated that my personality type matches my career aspirations as an Executive Program Manager in a corporate setting. Understanding and accepting my tendencies as an ESTJ personality type helps me be more introspective and insightful of my approaches and how I treat people and convey expectations will make me a more aware of weaknesses and strengths and use the knowledge to improve how I engage with others.

Many actions, quirks, and patterns that a person has are easily noted due to the ability to see it, but the puppeteer behind these habits is an individual’s personality. A certain personality type can affect the perception of certain events and the reactions/feelings to certain outcomes. Within the Jung Typology Test (JTT) it states that my type of personality is introverted, sensing, feeling and judging. The results indicated I am an introvert over extrovert, the score showed 56%. There was a marginal or no preference to sensing over intuition at 1% for this result. Moderate preference to feeling over thinking at 25%, and a strong preference to judging over perceiving at 78%. So this is saying that I am an introverted sensing with extroverted feeling.

While these five traits should be sufficient on their own to describe all facets of a personality, there also should be no correlation between the main factors. My conformed profile is Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling and Perceiving (INFP). It is not easy to describe myself as I cannot see my person from outside but better still I am the one that knows me very well than anyone else. Based on my conformed type I am going to describe myself as detailed as I can. As I said earlier I have preference for intraverting, intuition, feeling and perceiving. Mostly people with such personality are referred to as “Mediators” and/or “Idealists”. This is true because I am the type that looks for the good in anything or any person no matter how bad it is. In our heads, we all have a perception of our own personality, so when faced with the reality of it, it can be hard to accept. Some people have a better recognition of their personality traits, I like to think I’m one of those people. Before taking the personalities tests, I assessed a few key characteristics about myself: hardworking, stubborn, bright, lazy, extroverted, slow to trust. For the most part, the tests supported those characteristics. However, I was presented with attributes I never would’ve given to myself, but I’m nothing if not willing to learn more about myself.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a clear definition of my personality traits and how they affect me personally and how this knowledge can benefit me professionally.
