Air Filter – a device that reduces the concentration of solid particles in an airstream to a level that can be tolerated in a process or space occupancy; a component of most systems in which air is used for industrial processes, ventilation, or comfort air conditioning.
Automobile self starter – the bell housing is part of the transmission system on a gasoline (also known as petrol) or diesel powered vehicle. It is bolted to the engine block and contains the flywheel and the torque converter or clutch of the transmission. The starter motor is usually mounted here engaging with a ring gear on the flywheel. On the opposite end to the engine is usually bolted the gearbox.
Bucket seat – a seat contoured to hold one person, distinct from bench seats which are flat platforms designed to seat multiple people. Bucket seats are standard in fast cars to keep riders in place when making sharp or quick turns.
Bumper – a part of an automobile designed to allow one vehicle to impact with another and to withstand that collision without severe damage to the vehicle's frame. Brush guards, push bars, etc. were added "after-market" to bumpers of automobiles, pickups, trucks, and utility vehicles since at least the 1920s to provide additional protection to the vehicle. While bumpers were originally made of heavy steel, in later years they have been constructed of rubber, plastic, or painted light metal leaving them susceptible to damage from even minimal contact. For the most part, these vehicles cannot push, or be pushed by, another vehicle. An entire after-market industry has developed which now produces various guards to protect these vulnerable modern bumpers.
Buzzer – or sometimes called beeper is a signaling device, usually electronic, typically used in automobiles, household appliances such as a microwave oven, or game shows.
Car battery – a type of rechargeable battery that supplies electric energy to an automobile. Usually this refers to a SLI battery (Starting - Lighting - Ignition) to power the starter motor, the lights and the ignition system of a vehicle’s engine. This also may describe a traction battery used for the main power source of an electric vehicle.
Car door – an opening to enter to the car (or their compartments or partition), often equipped with a hinged or sliding panel which can be moved to leave the opening accessible, or to close it more or less securely.
Clutch – a machine element for the connection and disconnection of shafts in equipment drives.
* The primary purpose of the clutch is to smoothly transmit power from the engine to the jackshaft and to remove the connection when the engine is idling so that the machine is not always rolling.
Remove the 18mm bell housing bolt. There will be 4 easily accessible from the top with 3.1, 5 with 3.8. Next install the holding fixture with two hooks to support the engine while the trans is removed. This is a large frame like device that has two hooks that support the engine from above while major components have been removed from below. Raise and support the vehicle.
The use of manual was deemed too tedious and inert. At immense speeds, the use of a slick shift would be very tough and the drivers wont have that much time to react. Hence the use of more sophisticated and easier transmission systems have come into play. The paddle shift gearboxes are very easy to use. And with the combined strikeforce of a twin plate clutch gearbox, the gear changes are lightning fast. The use of electrohydraulics can be seen here. There is no clutch. Just a brake and a throttle pedal. The flappy paddles are located behing the steering wheel which make it easy for the driver to access it without much
One type of engine is a called a fuel cell. A fuel cell operates like a battery. Unlike a battery, a fuel cell does not run down or require recharging. It will produce energy in the form of electricity and heat as long as fuel is supplied. A fuel cell consists of two electrodes sandwiched around and electrolyte. Oxygen passes over one electrode and hydrogen over the other, generating electricity, water and heat. Hydrogen fuel is used to make all this work. Fuel cell emissions are nothing but water vapor.
The seat belt or safety belt is a safety harness designed to secure the occupant of a vehicle against harmful movement that may result from a collision or a sudden stop. As part of an overall automobile passive safety system, seat belts are intended to reduce injuries by stopping the wearer from hitting the hard interior of the vehicle, or other passengers, when in the correct position for the airbag to deploy it prevents the driver and passengers from being thrown from the vehicle. Seat belts absorb the energy of the impact by being designed to stretch during any sudden deceleration, so that there is less speed differential between the passenger's body and their vehicle interior, and also to spread the loading of impact on the passenger’s
Throughout history ideas have sprouted and grown into inventions that we could never picture our lives without. These ideas spark changes in culture, economic status, and ultimately the way people conduct their ways of life. In primitive times this idea was the invention of hunting tools using stones, wood, and bones. As time passed and brought us to medieval times domesticating a horse for means of transportation and use during battle was ideal. Now when we examine more modern times this was the idea that sparked a global change among nations, the automobile. While the automobile sparked a growth in economic status, employment rates, and improvement in the functionality of people’s everyday lives, the invention of the automobile also takes a debilitating toll on the environment, nonrenewable resources, and the health of humans. When did the havoc of the automobile begin?
How this marvel of engineering works is the rotor rides on an offset in the crankshaft, similar to a piston nand connecting rod assembly, and is rotated in an oval shaped case with ports for intake, exhaust and spark plugs. Incorporated into the rotor is a ring gear which had another gear that is stationary in the center, this planetary gear set is what keeps the rotor in time with the rest of the engine. The rotor creates three sealed areas where the different strokes will take place simultaneously, these three areas are sealed by strip of metal called the Apex seal which have the same function as the piston rings in a traditional internal combustion engine. The intake and ...
A battery is a device which converts chemical energy into electrical energy. A battery usually consists of two or more cells connected in series or parallel, you can also have a single cell battery. All cells consist of a positive electrode, and a negative electrode. An electrolyte is a liquid substance capable of conducting electricity. In this substance one of the electrodes will react producing electrons, while the other will except electrons. When the electrodes are connected to a device to be powered, called a load, an electrical current flows.
The invention of the automobile in the early 20th century has had an adverse affect on our environment. Our society has used technology in order to advance the automobile to make it better and more efficient. The automobile industry knows what sells and they take advantage of that. With this growing technology to advance automobiles also comes flaws. The biggest and most obvious flaw is pollution. Because of pollution, we find ourselves asking the question of whether this technology has helped our society more than it has hurt it.
The best model of motor vehicle is the Cadillac because it is characterized by advanced technological model enhancing the motor vehicle’s efficiency. This advanced technology makes the Cadillac a classic model of motor vehicle. The anti-locking brakes of this vehicle enable the wheels to co-ordinate well in order to give the vehicle stability. There is also a sensor that is installed at each wheel of the Cadillac. The work of this sensor is to gauge the pressure exerted by the brakes. This vehicle’s pressure is subject to the capability of the system to produce heat. The sensor and the anti-locking system serve to maintain wheel balancing.
An air bag is a high-speed inflation device hidden in the hub of the steering wheel or in the dash on the passenger’s side. Today they are installed on all new passenger cars sold in the United States. Some automobiles have side-impact air bags, located in doors or seats. The inflated bag creates a cushion between the occupant and the vehicle’s interior.
is connected to a shaft, which spins a disc. The disc has holes in it
Over the years, cars have advanced from a very basic and functional piece of technology to a high speed and intelligent set of interrelated components. Cars play a big part in our world and have changed a lot over the years.
Since the 1900s Automobiles have revolutionized the way people traveled across the globe. Automobiles have been around for about a whole century and have came a long way.
Doors can be defined as an opening barrier fixed in a wall opening which give access to a room and also to the building itself. Similar to window, doors can also be classified. Types of door depend on the basis of arrangement of components, the basis of construction method, working operation and materials used.
