Ozti the iceman is one of the most unique and astonishing finds of human remains there has ever been. Frozen in ice, his story will never cease to amaze you. Lachlan Ballangarry reports. On the 19th September, 1991, two German holiday makers Erika and Helmut Simon would not have expected to have found a body protruding out of the ice while walking on the east ridge of the Fineilspitze in the Ötztal Alps on the Austrian–Italian border. A very good age considering the short life expectancy 5300 years ago. As scientists have found that Ozti carried many health issues during and at the end of his life. With eggs of whipworm being found in his digestive retract, had Lyme disease an infectious disease caused by ticks found in his DNA (Deem, 2016). X-rays also showed he had many broken bones throughout his life, such as several ribs, nose and also shows significant wear and tear of joints probably from his very physical lifestyle of climbing mountains and hunting (South Tyrol, 2016). With many death theories being considered Much conspiracy has occurred over Ozti’s death though.
