Some obstacles are bigger than others, but this kind of situation is significant enough to change a person’s life in a practical way or it can cause their day to become a complete nightmare. According to “dictionary.com”, the definition of an obstacle is “something that we have to go through or have to overcome”. The obstacle I confronted fits into the definition of an obstacle considering that getting over the death of a family member or a close friend is something we’ve experienced at one point. Another reason why the definition fits this situation is due to it being something that obstructs or hinders progress in our lives. The reason why this obstacle obstructs our progress in life is that knowing someone has passed away isn’t something to neglect the next day. Usually, some require weeks or even months to accept the death of a loved one. All of us face obstacles in life, but plenty of obstacles are just furthermore overwhelming than others.
One of the obstacles I personally overcame is having a family member pass away, consequently leaving myself to accept that they’re not here anymore. Having a close family member pass away is one of the toughest experiences

One of the lessons that I learned from this is, all problems contain a solution. I’m expressing that, to solve my problem, which is the acceptance of my family member passing away, is to talk to friends and family to help overwhelm this, thus making them the solution to my problem. Another lesson I learned from this situation is that not all days will be a positive day, but after the darkest of days, there will be a great day. Being in this kind of position can teach people lessons, some simple and some that even can change your perspective on life! A couple examples of simple lessons are to respect and accept events that happen. An example of a life lesson people can potentially learn from this is to genuinely enjoy the time spent with your loved
When I was twelve years old, a close friend of mine passed away. At first, I didn’t know how to process what was happening. How can someone I’ve known for the majority of my life be gone? But then it finally hit me. My friend was really gone. There would be no more days challenging
Everyone has an obstacle in their life, but the one that made the most impact on me began when I was
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
Finding out about my grandmothers death was the saddest moment in my life . I didn't understand . I didn't expect it to happen , not to me . I wondered why god had taken an important person away from my life , ad for that i felt confused and miserable . I cried for hours that day . Nothing could have brought me joy that day but the presence of my grandmother , but she was gone and i found it hard to overcome the situation.
One summer I awoke to the chirping of my cell phone. I was really confused because I had a bunch of notifications. On a normal day I usually only have a couple. When I checked to see what they were, I discovered that they were all concerning my best friend. They all said “I’m so sorry for what happened.” I got really confused and stumbled down the stairs to talk to my mom. When I saw her, she had tears running down her face and she said “He’s gone.” My emotions hit me like a runaway train and I immediately went into a depression. The grieving process had just started and it was awful. Eventually, I knew it was necessary in order to heal. Grief marks our memories with sadness and pain; however, this way of coping is the essential key to moving on with our lives.
Death is an unavoidable event that will eventually happen to everyone. Some days may be easier than others and life may feel like it has returned to normal and other days, we feel helpless. (Johnson, 2007) Dealing with the loss of someone never gets easier. Facing painful memories, confusion, heartache, and loneliness are all common reactions when it comes to loss. There is no right or wrong way of dealing with grief. Some feel the need to take it out on others, drink the pain away, or just simply wanting to be left alone. (Huffman, 2012) Those are only part of a short list of possible coping tactics. It all depends on the person and the loss they are going through that sends the griever down different roads trying to reach acceptance. Also, everyone has a different attitude towards death. Some accept the fact that people do not live forever and someday we all will die. Whether its old age, a car accident, suicide, or the misfortunes of being killed are all life ending possibilities. Some believe there is no life after death or that once a living thing dies; it cannot be brought back to life. All of these examples will be based off of the environment in which one has grown up in. (Huffman, 2012) In the following, the four stages of ‘normal’ grieving, several techniques on deali...
When we push our grief away, it seems to go underground and can affect our lives in many unpredictable ways. Stephen Levine, the well-known author on death and
As a child my parents worried about my educational development. They didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep up with the other children. I was in the third grade and didn’t know any English. I struggled academically my remaining elementary years to catch up to the other children, but it wasn’t long until I exceeded my peers in middle school.
Essay 2 Most obstacles that people face are more vindictive than what they actually seem. My obstacles that I have overcome are very interesting and how I got where I am today. My life has drastically changed over the years and I’m happy that it has happened to me. The obstacle that has happened to me was basically in school during my younger years, i wasn’t smart nor was I confident in myself to accomplish anything
In many things I have witnessed is my Great-grand mother dying. However she was very old naturally it was and is very hard. How ever I believe the creative aspect must have been when she was dying and repeatedly told me about the miraculous hills and flowers. I believe the hardest thing about accepting and fearing your own death is the lack of knowledge of the after life and I believe because she gave me this wonderful description it wont be as hard for me to accept her death along with other peoples and my own.
The key point to these obstacles is knowing the best way to overcome them. Some people struggle more with overcoming obstacles, due to their life history and the way they were raised (Harrington, 2012, p.1). As for overcoming obstacles there is always a way. It is kind of like how people learn and grow from their mistakes.
Obstacles can be someone’s downfall or they can also be ones upbringing joy. An obstacle will show someone’s strength. The only thing holding one back from overcoming their obstacle is themselves. Because all obstacles can be overcame with a little hope and faith. Your mind and body is always physically able to prevail. The main question for oneself is. Are you able to overcome the obstacle or are you going to let it hold you back from your success? Everyone goes through hundreds of obstacles in their lifetime. My most recent obstacle happened earlier this year.
To me the term dive deep means to keep going on as far as possible. Obstacles will come crashing your path toward success, but you have to keep moving forward. When I was in high school, I joined track and dance. Every day I had difficult tasks to perform. Whether it’s to do pirouettes (an act of spinning on one foot) or running three miles in the rain, I managed to keep pushing myself. Even when I was injured, I kept pushing myself. My coach would always tell us “pain makes you stronger” and it sure
Because of what I learned from hitting this “hurdle” in life, I have decided to make the most out of the life I have been given. Overcoming the adversity of losing a loved one has not only challenged me, but has given me a perspective and wisdom that most people are only able to learn through challenges like this one. Life is unpredictable. Like hurdles, life evokes fear, strength, and courage. Life is often like a race, everyone is forced to face their own obstacles, however, like Nelson Mandela once said, “Our greatest glory lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Throughout life, everyone is bound to face their own set of hurdles, however, the important part is learning to get up, keep moving, and apply what was learned from the experience to overcoming the next
When I was younger, I had friends, but I was the person who did not want to dance at birthday parties. I was someone who enjoyed talking to the lunch moms instead of playing on the playground. I was shy and my mom handled everything for me. Until now, I did not know how much work went into raising me. I never knew that there were deadlines to paying bills or that appointments had to be made in advance, but everything changed one morning when I woke up to the blaring sound of my mom’s alarm. I was confused because she was a light sleeper, and I became anxious. I ran into her room, and immediately I knew something was wrong. The death of my mother during the first month of my eighth grade year, as a single event, did not instantly mark my transition to adulthood, but it did change my life forever. My mother died before she was able to watch me graduate middle school, before she was able to teach me how to drive, and before she was able to share all of her wisdom. Her death was the most painful experience I have ever encountered, but I was lucky enough
