We live in a society today that is all about getting ahead of the rest of the world, no matter what one must sacrifice whiter it be ones morals, belief systems, or even ones family, it as all become about "me" and "my needs". In the book "Ordering Your Private World", author Gordon MacDonald addresses the physical busyness f people today and how it is affecting them in other aspects of their lives. In this paper I plan on addressing how MacDonald gives sound advice to a new generation that is needed, for them to live life from the inside. This paper will contain a brief report on the book, and also my personal opinion on the entire thing.

It becomes all to easy to make promises, verbalized intentions, and to express ones opinions with intense passion. However, there is nothing behind it, other then wasted time and energy (76). The result of time used improperly is disorganization. But how can one tell if they have become disorganized? There are several symptoms that show that a person is disorganized. These are: someone who is disorganized are more aware of a diminution in their self-esteem. Secondly they tend to invest their energies in unproductive tasks; it affects every part of their will to work steadily and excellently. Thirdly they are a person who rarely enjoys intimacy with God; therefore they open their selves up to be more vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy.
After reading the story, I found I had mixed emotions about it. To explain, when we were getting into detail and finally finding out what really happened the day of June 28th, I found myself completely interested and glued to the book. I also enjoyed the way the incident was explained because I felt like I was there watching it all happen from the great detail. I enjoyed Phillips style of writing because through his writing, he really came off as an intelligent person who is very familiar with the legal system. The book is an easy read, and I liked the non-pretentious style of writing. I did not find myself struggling with reading the book at all, which made the overall experience that much more enjoyable.
Time allocation, or time management, is a trait that everyone is capable of. However, there are people who tend to manage their time better than others. People often find themselves wasting time on unimportant activities. The time wasted can depend on the type of person they are, though. Say there is a successful businessman. That man is less likely to waste his time doing something unimportant than a teenager who doesn’t have their priorities straight. In the story, ‘Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket”, Tom Benecke struggles with balancing the time spent on his work and time spent with his wife. In our generation, technology is all around us. In "Our Secret" by Susan Griffin, the essay uses fragments throughout the essay to symbolize all the topics and people that are involved. The fragments in the essay tie together insides and outsides, human nature, everything affected by past, secrets, cause and effect, and development with the content. These subjects and the fragments are also similar with her life stories and her interviewees that all go together. The author also uses her own memories mixed in with what she heard from the interviewees. Her recollection of her memory is not fully told, but with missing parts and added feelings. Her interviewee's words are told to her and brought to the paper with added information. She tells throughout the book about these recollections.
Perhaps no other event in modern history has left us so perplexed and dumbfounded than the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany, an entire population was simply robbed of their existence. In “Our Secret,” Susan Griffin tries to explain what could possibly lead an individual to execute such inhumane acts to a large group of people. She delves into Heinrich Himmler’s life and investigates all the events leading up to him joining the Nazi party. In“Panopticism,” Michel Foucault argues that modern society has been shaped by disciplinary mechanisms deriving from the plague as well as Jeremy Bentham’s Panopticon, a structure with a tower in the middle meant for surveillance. Susan Griffin tries to explain what happened in Germany through Himmler’s childhood while Foucault better explains these events by describing how society as a whole operates.
In "The Rules of the Game," a short story about a young Chinese-American girl, Waverly Jong, embarks journey to become a chess master. Waverly's mother believes she is a key component during this journey. Even though the mother actually has no true role in Waverly's adventure, she continues to believe it is her as the one who is succeeding. This belief is a necessity for Waverly's mother because she has nothing for herself. Waverly's mother has to live through her daughter because of her own lack of success.
In the last century, technology has revolutionized societies, promoting the culture of instant materialistic entertainment. These advancements impact everyone, especially the younger generations since the technological products influence and shape their life attitudes. In “The Technology of Simplicity” by Mark A. Burch, the author discusses the impact of these social advancements by contrasting the behaviours of people in the past and the present.

Technology has changed our world dramatically over the last several decades. Several generations before us did not have air conditioning, telephones, television much less internet. However, today we have access to all of this and more. Technological advances have not only made changes in how we communicate, but also in how everyday tasks are done. The New York Times explains how social media affects children’s behavior and academics, and how the concept of dating has been altered while Louis C. K. explains how the 21st century takes little things for granted and YouTube channel charstarlineTV shows how daily activities can no longer be done without the use of cellphones.
... that if you make the right decision, God will help you, he will guide and save you. This maybe the details that are left out of Proverbs, there may not be a need for detail at all. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, don’t be lazy, the out come then will be the help of the Lord. This advice is God/dess’ guidance, it is then up to you which path you will take, what decisions will be made, and which life you choose to live. The Lord can only bring us this far; He/She is unable to help, if we are do not make the right decisions and live righteously.
Proverbs are not promises (as Ecclesiastes and Job emphasize) but are a call to action…wise living.
At the present, it seems like that the technology, the medicine, the economic stability has been improved and consequently we have better life standards than our predecessors – we are able to have more, to wish for more and consequently to consume even more. But how far away are we from the Brave New World? – Unfortunately with every passing decade, we are getting closer and closer to the reality described by Aldous Huxley. As if Rene Descartes’ “I think, therefore I am” is transferring to “I consume, therefore I am.” I cannot say whether being consumers is good or bad but I do believe that our individualism and human values are somehow distorted by our pleasure seeking from consumerism. And although, our society may be able to survive at the expense of individual freedom, it is not worth the price.

This proverb can be translated in a number of ways. Literally speaking, (If I had no knowledge of the teachings of Ecclesiastes,) I will translate this using the deconstructionist method of analyzing. "Rejoice in your youth, you who are young; let your heart give you joy in your young days." Literally, this would mean that young people should enjoy life and do every pleasant thing they can do while they are still young. "Follow the promptings of your heart and the desires of your eyes." This means that whatever you feel, no matter right or wrong, to act upon it. "But this you know: for all these things God will bring you to judgment." This line means that all your actions will be seen and judged by God.
