Who would've thought that 94 percent of life on Earth is aquatic, that makes us land occupants a very small portion of the overall life on Earth. With this being said, ocean exploration is essential in gaining knowledge on what we are sharing our planet with. The oceans continue to provide many medical benefits with their many plants and animals. Exploration is key in observing. Observation is the first step in the scientific process. We don't know what we want to know more about unless we explore. We could expand so many horizons by exploring the ocean in more detail. We could learn more about our planet, the life is sustains, and the different uses of its resources. Exploring the ocean causes more needs for different technology, meaning more advances in our inventions. We are naturally a curious species, and it only makes sense to continue expanding our knowledge. …show more content…

They're the Earth's largest ecosystem and it's largest life support system. Oceans produce half of the oxygen people need to breathe, and also absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reduce the impact of climate change. Why wouldn't we continue to explore something that covers over half of our planet? Besides the fact that our oceans take up majority of our planet, the medical benefits it has are unbelieveable. Biological and chemical materials from marine life are in use or are being developed to fight against HIV, inflammation, tuberculosis, cancer, and fungal infections. For example, a species of caribbean sponges are capable of making compounds used in producing azidothymidine (AZT) which is an antiretroviral drug used in treating HIV retrovirus, that causes AIDS. In order for our species to continue, we need to find new resources to live off
