Issues of Obamacare Donald Trump said, “I support health care for people. I want people well taken care of. But I also want health care that we can afford as a country. I have people and friends closing down their businesses because of Obamacare”. Clearly, Trump is not a believer in Obamacare since it has hurt so many small businesses from being able to grow; however, he thinks that healthcare is an important program that should be there. Donald Trump is not the only person with an opinion of Obamacare, especially since it has been a hot debate ever since the Obama administration introduced it. For example, Wynton Hall claims that Obama lied when he promised that if you like your current health care plan then you do not have to change it; furthermore, Hall backs this claim, he found out that 3.5 million Americans have gotten notifications that say that their health insurance plans have been cancelled. He also finds a video provided by the New York Magazine that shows Obama promising the permanence of current and liked health care plans will not be cancelled. Another example of an anti-Obamacare claim is during Mitt Romney’s convention speech. He states how small businesses should be supported so as a result he believes in reducing taxes on businesses. Also, he believes that the healthcare system needs to change by removing Obamacare in order to satisfy these needs. He also describes that Obamacare is increasing the costs of healthcare and decreasing employment opportunities. For example, fox news reporter Sally Kohn argues that “millions of Americans have already been benefitted from Obamacare”. Further into her argument, she states that “2.5 million young people can now stay on their parents’ health insurance until the age of 26”. The reasoning she gives allows for Americans to feel like Obamacare has already benefitted a big population of the nation. Another example that shows the benefits of America occurs in a speech by Barack Obama at the White House. Obama states that “American swho already have health insurance don’t need to sign up for coverage through a website at all….the Affordable Care Act provides you with new benefits and protections.” He confirms that Obamacare is just an extra convenience for people who want additional things or people who need affordable health insurance. In the same speech, Obama talks about how Obamacare has helped a single mom by allowing her to save money and still help her kid who requires treatment for ADHD.
