Introduction
This paper will show how the facility will continue to stay abreast of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The paper will also take a look at the activities and the frequency of training and audits that the hospital will conduct throughout the year. This paper will address the possibility of the fines the hospital has received and what causes the fines. The OSHA is an organization that provides a safe work environment for all staff members.
Occupational Safety & Health Administration
The hospital has an OSHA team that addresses related issues thtoughout the hospital. On many occassions the facility has had mock visits from the OHSA team to look at opportunities for improvements. The team consists of several participants that range from the Director, Janet Detuch of occupational health, RN manager, Infections Control manager, to Environmental Health and Compliance manager. “The purpose of the team is to provide for a work environment as free of hazards and exposure risks as possible and to demonstrate compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations (CHC 2003). “
Frequency of Training and Audits
Janet’s responsibility is to be in the know of all the policies. procedures, and processes. The manager is responsible for coordinating with the OHSA team and setting up training and meetings to ensure that all departments are in compliance with the standards. As part of our training we have annual testing that involves taking a series of computerized tests that addresses staff safety issues. ...and healthy place to work and being treated. At times these organizations may seem like a nuisance, but as a patient and an employee in the healthcare field I feel safer knowing that such organization exist, given that I have worked both in the private and public sector, there have been things that should not have happened. The key on ensuring policies are followed is awareness, communication, and continuous education. By having procedures in place for all departments this will help elevate and ensure no infractions are given by OSHA and JCAHO in the Healthcare facility.
