When you enter the Catholic Church there are a variety of vocations to choose from. These vocations are nun, priest, single life, bishop, deacon, and married life. For this project, I decided to interview Sister Mary. Sister Mary works for the Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville, Indiana. During my interview with Sister Mary I wanted to know about what she does and how did she know she wanted to be a nun. Well, I was born into a family with four generations of nuns. So being around sisters wasn’t unusual. I was deeply inspired to be a nun because of the nuns who taught me. I knew that they loved me and everyone around me, they really enjoyed their job. I didn’t always want to be a nun because in 8th grade I didn’t like the idea of being a nun. But during my senior year the idea because more and more appealing. By then I was sure that I wanted to become a sister. I became a nun in 1964, I have been a nun for 52 years. This is my 9th year working for the Holy Rosary Parish. …show more content…
I think that I would be a great mom but I can’t be both. I’m not sad but I still wish. The most rewarding thing about being a nun is that I have wonderful support from my community of the Sisters of Providence. I love my sisters and I know they love me. When we work together we can do marvelous things to bring peace and justice to our world, especially for women and children who are the major focus of our community. I’ve worked with people in the poor areas of inner cities and in the rural areas and I hope I’ve made a difference there. Working with and for the hungry, the hurting, and the homeless has been very rewarding. Working with the people of Holy Rosary here in Evansville has also been a blessing. Everywhere you go there’s an opportunity to share God’s loving presence and bring hope to those who need a reminder that God is active and present in their

From quite a young age, when many people do not know what they are doing with their lives, Mary had already decided that she wanted to be a nun and help people as much as she could, she wanted to help the poor and less fortunate than her. Mary worked with people and children and ...
While comparing her time, theology and spiritual practice we realize she lived during the time of immense change, similarly we are living on the edge of a challenged modernity. Her spiritual direction allows us to recognize and develop further abilities in our pastoral ministries of caring for one another as participants within the corporate communities as well as within the mission fields.
The second family that I interviewed was the Lyles family. Both Bro. Scotty, the father, and Mrs. Yolanda, the mother, participated in the interview and three of their children were in the room. Bro. Scotty was born and raised in Alba, Texas on the very same tree farm that he owns and operates today; he is also a deacon at our church. However, Mrs. Yolanda was born and raised in Guatemala. As a child she was raised Catholic, and is part of a large and growing family. She is one of eight children. Their family as well as anybody else in that culture celebrated their daughter’s 15th birthday with a Quinceañera which marked the transition from childhood to young womanhood. This was traditionally the first time the girls would wear make-up, nice
When conducting this interview the interviewee was Karina. The theme that was explored throughout this interview was the theme of education. This interview was conducted on Friday, November 25th, 2016 at my house. The total length of this interview was 65 minutes. Karina is the only girl in her family of five including her parents and three brothers. When Karina first decided to immigrate to the United States, both of her parents were against it since they were preoccupied with the journey being extremely harsh for her. Karina is a first generation immigrant who immigrated to the United States at the age of 22 in 1989. She finished college in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico and graduated with a nursing degree. Karina would have never been able to complete
All my life, as far back as I can remember I have always found joy in helping others. Whether they were hurt, sad, lost, or scared, I would try whatever I could think of to help them. There was never any question or doubt as to what I wanted to, I have always wanted to be a nurse.
Interviewing and research skills are needed within the social work profession. Effective communication skills are one of the most crucial components of a social worker’s job. Every day, social workers must communicate with clients to gain information, convey critical information and make important decisions (Zeiger, 2017). This interview experience was an opportunity to explore the daily challenges and rewards of a licensed social worker. I was excited for the opportunity to interview a social worker in the gerontology sector as this is a specialty I am considering. This meeting allowed me to explore the educational steps of being a social worker, practices of the agency, the clients who are served, and the challenges the agency has.
For my informational interview I spoke with a nurse who has experience working on a medical surgical unit in a hospital setting. She has been a nurse for 10 years. She also has her bachelors degree in nursing. I started my interview by introducing myself and explaining what my assignment was about, and how she could help me tremendously with answering some questions regarding her nursing career, and what she does as a medical surgical nurse.
Three years ago, I volunteer at the Florida hospital. It was a amazing experience to see how everyone was working together to save lives. Ever since then I wanted to become a registered nurse because of my compassion, and I want to care for people. I like giving advice and emotional support to others. Nursing is my passion in life.
This was for a women to take on the role of a Nun and it seems this involved a smaller amount of women due to the smaller amount of monastaries founded in the period between 1200 and 1400. The role of the Nun involved living a life of contemplation, prayer and work and was based upon the suffering Jesus was inflicted with when on the Cross.
I have always had a passion for nursing. As a child, I watched my mother getting up early, putting her scrubs on and headed out the door for a 12 hour shift. She was always content, and at ease to go for a long shift and even overtime at times. I love the fact that after work, she would always come home, satisfied with the day no matter how hard it was for her. She would sit and tell my brothers and sisters how she enjoyed the conversations that she had with her patients and what impact she had on their lives that day. Listening to these stories as a child, I knew that I wanted to become a nurse and listening to the same stories and helping people, making their day feel better. I wanted to follow my mom’s footsteps. At the end of a long shift, it is a rewarding profession, knowing that I am saving people’s lives, making them comfortable when they are near of dying, advocate and teaching them. As nurses, we care for patients through illness, injury, aging, health. We also promote health, prevent diseases and teaching the community; that’s what I love about nursing. I believe that this is the right profession for me because I have all the qualities that a nurse should possess when
My communications classmates and I were partnered up with one another in order to perform a mock interview. During a mock interview, an interviewee is asked a set of questions (previously unbeknownst to the interviewee) and the interviewee had to give good answers to the questions. On October 24, in Mr. Wolfe’s classroom during 7th hour, at the student desks located next to his radio,My partner and I, Gabi Kappes took turns interviewing one another. The primary purpose of the mock interview according to Mr. Wolfe (our teacher) was to prepare ourselves for interviews we will engage in sometime in the near future.Gabi interviewed me for a prestigious MFA program at the University of Wisconsin Madison (which only
I was never one of those who as a young girl wanted to become a nurse, I knew I always wanted to work in health care administration. I will say my journey to become a nurse started after facing some challenging health and personal experience. I lost my father suddenly to heart disease at age 15. My father was my bedrock who at that time always wanted me to become a nurse, but as a teenager I wanted to do my own thing. Not until I experienced a series of hospitalization. One that stood out for me was when I was in the hospital for two weeks getting exchange transfusions, and I almost died. The nurses were incredible. They were angels at my bedside. They encouraged me, worked me through my treatment plan, and explained every detail to me. The nurses were the parents I did not have at my bedside for 24 hours. After discharge, I started to think about a career in nursing. Not too long after this occurrence, I started taking my prerequisites while I volunteered at Bellevue Hospital. After a long journey, I finally became a registered nurse.

She told me how her religion started. She told me why things happened the way they. Janet spoke about how Catholics value honesty, integrity and kindness. She led me to realize that people of Catholic faith do not simply pray away their sins but must go to confessionals (a small box located in the parish) to ask for forgiveness with the help of a priest. She expressed that if you follow those commandments, you can lead an honest life. She felt this way because people who follow them will not want to steal, lie or cheat in her opinion. Thus, creating a better environment and a more authentic way of life. Mark told me how he prays before each meal and bed every day. He also told me he attends church on Sunday and attends mass every day. By telling me these things, they let me into their culture and helped me learn all I wanted to know about
