Through this research paper, I will explore Memphis and its necropolis- the Pyramids Fields from Giza to Dahsur, for its significance in world heritage. According to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, better known as UNESCO, Memephis and its Necropolis is a site that is part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

Initially, Djoser, the founder of the Third Dynasty, built that pyramid as a mausoleum. The shape, considered as new, was a transformation of the earlier tombs, which were shaped like great brick rectangles with the walls slopong inward and flat rood, also known as mastabas. Stone replaced brick, for the first time. The pyramid is located inside a funerary area where a curtain wall has a height of 10 meters tall.
Snefru was the founder of the Fourth Dynasty. He transformed the structure of the tomb by choosing the pyramid shape with a square base; a shape that is now familiar. In the necropolis of Dahsur stand the Red Pyramid. The Pyramid was built red because of the hue of the limestone that was used to erect it. The Rhomboid Pyramid is situated south. That pyramid has a double slope on each of the four faces. Snefru ordred to have the annex appear for the first time.
Upon the death of Snefru, his son Khufu succeeded him. Credit goes to him for the construction of the great pyramids of Giza. The pyramid is a symbol of the sun and the god Ra. The pyramid texts indicate that the dead king transformed into the sun.

The number of tourists declined dramatically since 2010 because Egypt’s constant political instability, which was caused by both the Arab Spring revolutions and a coup d’état. Egyptian burial complexes evolved from the simple rectangular mastaba to the great pyramids of the Fourth Dynasty. The true pyramid evolved from the mastaba through an intermediary form, the step pyramid, the earliest example of which is Zoser’s Step Pyramid at Saqqara, which dates to the Third Dynasty (c. 2680 BC). The Step Pyramid was revolutionary for several reasons. It is the earliest known free-standing monument built entirely of stone in Egypt (Fakhry 20); it is also the earliest example of evolutionary architectural development beyond the mastaba. In form the step pyramid is a series of superimposed mastabas and represents the stairway that the spirit of the pharaoh was to climb to reach the sky-realm and join the crew of the solar barque traveling across the heavens (Aldred 47).
Just as the burial sites before, King Zoser’s complex was built facing the Nile River to the east. A large rock wall surrounded the complex, measuring 550 by 275 meters, with the only noticeable entrance being at the southern part of the east face. When one enters the complex they then head north through the entry corridor. This hyperstyle hall is lined with two rows of half columns engaged to spur walls. These columns carry a stone ceiling cut to resemble rounded logs. After passing through a doubled number of columns at the end of the hall, one comes into a large court. This court is known as the Heb-sed court, and was presumably used for ceremonies. At the southwest corner of this court is a building of solid masonry, and to the north, in another separate court, is two temple buildings with columns carved to imitate the lotus and the papyrus plants. Just to the west of this court lay the stepped pyramid under which King Zoser’s body lay in a granite sarcophagus. This sarcophagus was originally topped with a simple stone mastaba, but was then enlarged three times. This stepped pyramid was then enlarged to the north and the west, making its final size consisting of six stages standing at 204 feet tall. The stepped pyramid concealing the burial chamber was consistent with previous burial sites however, none before had been as extravagant and contained as many additional structures as King Zoser’s complex.

Today I’ve discussed three things about The Great Pyramid of Giza. First I started off with stating how significant it is, how long it took to finish constructing the pyramids, and describing its physical appearance.
One of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world is the Great Pyramid of Giza. This wonder is “built to the last” for the future. However, this wonder is falling apart from bad weather conditions and we should try to keep it balanced and endured. If this wonder is damaged, preserving it would be difficult. We should try to preserve this wonder because it has a historical significance, a great architecture, and a deeper understanding of the Egyptian culture.

Actually, Luxor is really comprised of three different areas, consisting of the City of Luxor on the East side of the Nile, the town of Karnak just north of Luxor and Thebes, which the ancient Egyptians called Waset, which is on the west side of the Nile across from Luxor. The modern town of Luxor is home to 170,000 people in Egypt today. Luxor is the site of the ancient city of Thebes, which was the capital of Egypt from the 12th dynasty (1991 BC) and achieved its peak during the New Kingdom (1539 BC to around 700 BC). Although the mud brick palaces of Thebes have long disappeared, the stone temples have survived. The temple remained buried beneath the town of Luxor for thousands of years, and was not uncovered until a mosque was built on top of it. Now, the mosque remains an important part of the entire temple.
