When my family prepares for thanksgiving it is usually considered the biggest time of year. This is because my grandmother prepares all food for Christmas, and we prepare food for thanksgiving! Going all out for this time of year is completely normal and has become a tradition that we all share. We cook everything from scratch, and we never give in to shortcuts. My mom even has a whole lot of recipes she has been revising for years that we use. From turkey to ham, mashed potatoes to sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie to apple-pie galore we have every kind of thanksgiving food.
A few weeks before thanksgiving begins my mom will randomly pick up the ingredients as they go on sale. These ranging from green-beans, chicken broth, milk, flour, sugar, butter raw turkey and ham along with many other ingredients. That way by the time its three …show more content…

We then pray over the food, and dig in! We then start to talk and spend way over a couple of hours talking, eating, watching TV and enjoying the time we spend with our family.
My friend Gabby’s family does things a lot different, instead of family members taking over a holiday, everyone pitches in on thanksgiving! Preparing for thanksgiving for her family is so much different. They don’t spend three days cooking but instead have each member of the family brings one or two dishes. She says that her family usually home-makes the dishes that are brought to her grandmother’s house.
Gabby’s family does not have to worry about getting all of the ingredient’s early because everyone is making something different. But her grandmother usually gets the turkey and what she will stuff it with. Her aunt buys ingredients for green-bean casserole, and the rest of her family buys ingredients for deviled eggs, Italian pasta, fruit salad, candied yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, gravy mashed potatoes, banana pudding and
