Some people dread Thanksgiving. They hate to see relatives they dislike, they abhor the bloated feeling from eating too much, and they despise all the work that goes into planning such a big event. I am certainly not one of these people, for I adore everything about Thanksgiving. I always enjoy spending time with family, I love to eat all the food I can, and I have no problem preparing for this wonderful holiday. While many prefer to serve the meal family style, with all the dishes on the table, my family will typically serve it buffet style to increase efficiency. Another important component of proper dining is arranging the tables. On my mother’s side of the family, the youngest people are my two-year-old twin cousins. However, the next youngest person is my fifteen-year-old brother. This discrepancy is fixed by a system that allows small children to be with these parents while still providing a separate table for teenagers and young adults. After everyone is seated, someone will lead us all in prayer. This person is typically my father or my Uncle Tom. Once this has been done, my grandmother will be the first to receive her share of food, but after her, chaos breaks out with everyone looking to get whatever food they want. After everyone retrieves their meal, it is best to have everyone sit down and eat. Make sure each table is equipped with such necessary condiments as gravy, butter, salt, and pepper. Thanksgiving Dinner is one of the best times for conversion. In my family, we will tell corny jokes and discuss interesting subjects, such as school, during this time. Once everything has been cleaned up, my family members and I can relax, spend time with one another, and watch the football game. When this time comes I’m pretty much stuffed but I continue to still gaze at all the amazing things I’m going to consume. We say grace and the fun begins when we grab our plates. My plate usually consist of the traditional stuff. I consider traditional as turkey, sausage stuffing, mash potatoes and gravy of course. In fact my plate is slathered up in gravy. Who can resist? Once hours have passed myself and everyone has enjoyed the meal things start to slow down. Usually everyone helps with the dishes or sits in a nice comfortable chair. By doing this it allows everyone to get a little digestion in before the final finale. The coffee smell is also a euphoric sent to me because it just compliments the meal and the mood so well. After an hour of two comes my favorite time which is dessert. Since I’m confident about my baking I always just wait till everyone tries

Thanksgiving Day is a day of family, food, and giving thanks for the blessings in life and yet some people believe Thanksgiving to be a prep day for Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. The focus of Thanksgiving shifted from family bonding to incessant shopping. This trend of taking away from the hours of Thanksgiving in order to shop is enraging. It steals away from family time for the shoppers and the employees. Employers threaten workers that if they do not work on that certain holiday, they will be fired.
