The Myriad Benefits of College
In 2012, the graduation rate remained low despite the increasing attendance at community colleges. While many people attend college to obtain a better education and more opportunities, it is widely known that the ultimate goal is to increase earning potential. Confucius once said, "You cannot open a book without learning," emphasizing the importance of hard work in the learning process. This statement holds true as reading is an essential component of education. In 2014, out of 2.9 million high school graduates, 2.0 million enrolled in college to pursue higher education. Apart from the promise of a higher salary, college offers numerous benefits to students who participate in the academic experience. One such benefit is the development of self-discipline, which is crucial in post-college life. High school education tends to be more lenient, whereas college education allows individuals to mature and grow. As a result, they learn to prioritize their lives. Additionally, a higher level of education enhances one's application and sets them apart from those without a college degree.
One smart choice is learning how to save time and money. College teaches most people that time is money. It also helps with loans by encouraging critical thinking and planning ahead. In today's world, a job with a retirement plan typically requires a college degree, and such a plan can be invaluable in the future. Additionally, college can improve budgeting and spending habits by teaching students to manage their money wisely. Finally, it can broaden one's understanding of investment options and what constitutes a wise investment.
