Journey of an Insatiable Reader

The time that I recall when I first began to read was when I was two years old. My mom started teaching me a lot before I went into kindergarten and it was really useful that she was a kindergarten teacher herself. The main types of readings I do are magazines, research articles, and when I get assigned to read a novel for a class. I would describe myself as a reader that once I start reading a book, I find myself not being able to stop because I want to know what will happen next. A moment that encapsulates who I am as a reader is when I read a novel that I chose for a class to do a book report on and found myself reading it for over an hour because I was in such suspense. Reading has changed me for the worse because there will always be times in my education that I know I will not get to choose what novel I read. The most important thing I have learned from reading is that it gives you a lot more knowledge. I have learned things from reading that I discovered to be true. For example, I have learned new words from reading by using context clues to determine what they meant, later to find out that I was correct. A moment of recognition that I have had growing into literacy was when I first started college. In college I realized that there was a lot of reading that had to be done in a short amount of time unlike high school. There are also a lot of book reports and essays that have to be done. Until I got into college, I have never completed a book report. I never realized that there was so much work that had to go into writing an essay or book report. There are so many steps, such as drafting and revising it repeatedly to get the grade you want. Since I was never a person that liked to read, I had a difficult time even picking up the book and starting to read it. It was difficult for me
