My Philosophy on Education
My philosophy on education is based on the concept of sharing. Obviously, the most common form of sharing in education is the sharing of knowledge that occurs between a teacher and her students. Although I feel that this type of sharing is crucial, there are many other forms of sharing in education that I value extremely. The sharing of ideas amongst students is another necessary form of sharing in the area of education. I have seen firsthand how effective students teaching students can be. When an educator uses this type of sharing as a way of enforcing a lesson, she is making the process of learning much easier and more powerful. In addition, some students who have difficulty comprehending a teacher’s lesson may understand a fellow student’s slightly different approach to a concept.
Another aspect of sharing that I personally find difficult is the sharing of time. It is clear that a teacher must devote hours inside and outside the classroom to be an excellent educator. On the other hand, students must also give an impresive amount of time to fully participate in the education experience. Parents also fit into this area of sharing, most children need parental attention in order to grow and develop properly. I find it incredibly frustrating when I hear about parents who are too busy with work and other activities to spend quality time with their children, but when their child starts to do poorly in school they immediately start blaming othe...
On September 7, 1996, Tupac Amaru Shakur was riding in the passenger side of a black BMW driven by Marion Suge Knight, president of Death Row Records. Tupac and Suge had just finished watching Mike Tyson defeat Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tupac was standing up through the sunroof while the car was stopped at a traffic light. The Cadillac containing the gunmen passed an entourage of Tupac’s allies, many of them bodyguards. Four unidentified men pulled alongside Suge’s car, fired 13 rounds, and sped away. No one gives chase and there were no witnesses on the street. How come? Why not, especially after a heavyweight fight? Tupac was shot in multiple places including his pelvis, hand, and torso. Suge was grazed in the head w/ a slug of a bullet fragment. On Friday, September 13, 1996, he was reportedly pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas. But, did he really die? There are many suspicious details about his departure that contribute to this theory. It is supposed that Tupac is still alive b/c of things said before and after his death, actions done before and after his death, and other reports.
Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas, on September 13, 1996. Before Tupac’s fatality he had changed his stage name to "Makaveli", after the 16th century philosopher Machiavelli. Machiavelli was most famous for staging his own death to fool his enemies, something that Tupac allegedly spoke of doing. In his last album,” The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory”, the cover shows him crucified on a cross containing the phrase, “Exit Tupac, Enter Makaveli,” Is this co-incidence or did Tupac plan his own downfall. Fans wonder if he is dead or if he is actually in some Caribbean island preparing for his big return. Yes Tupac is faking his own extinction and coming back as Makaveli will be the reincarnation of his fame.
During the last three chapters of Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal, Leuchtenburg writes on the radicalization of the New Deal, its benefits, its downfalls, and what made Roosevelt a great President in the 1930’s. Over the course of these chapters the presidents defectors and opposers come to light. Some thought his government was turning to socialism, but in fact it was destroying it due to progressive reforms which fought for the everyday man and legislation that advocated in favor of social security for persons 65 and older. The 30’s were great in the aspect that long needed reform took place giving the common man privileges that they had never had before. It is evident that Roosevelt's policies were trying to better the everyday man
There were several things that seemed suspicious about Tupac’s death, one being no one was ever arrested or charged with his murder. On September 6, 1996 at 11:05 p.m., Tupac and Suge Knight (Tupac’s producer) were cruising down the Las Vegas strip when police pulled them over for playing their stereo too loud and not properly displaying their license plates. After Suge and Tupac were let go by police they drove east on Flamingo Road where they stopped for a red light at Koval Lane, which is about a half a mile from the Las Vegas strip. A car pulled up a car-length ahead to the right and Tupac and Suge’s entourage were in a car behind them. Then, a jeep full of girls pulled up to the left of Suge and Tupac, which got their attention. Seconds after another car pulled up to the passenger side door of Suge and Tupac’s ride and unloaded gunshots at Tupac (“2 Pac...
Initially, the Social Security Act of 1935 generated a nationwide organization proposed to distribute financial assurance for the nation's workforces. This Act was set out to provide for society to the une...
During the times of the Great Depression, millions of Americans were living in poverty, the majority of them were elderly. They had no income, savings or the ability to re-enter the work force. In response to these circumstances, President Franklin Roosevelt signed a legislation, which was passed by the Congress to start the New Deal program “Social security.” David Hosansky, a senior writer at CQ Weekly and the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, defined the federal social insurance program as, “a method of providing income to families when family earnings were reduced or stopped because of certain circumstances such as death, retirement, or disability.” The program provided income benefits for retired workers, dependents, survivors, and mostly elderly’s. During the previous years, the rate of retirement has been skyrocketing and threatening the very existence of the program. The rapid increase in the rate of retiree are causing the social security program to pay out more benefit costs than it is receiving.
Physical therapists are members of a health care team, specially trained to improve movement and flinction, relieve pain, and expand movement potential. Through evaluation and individualized treatment programs, physical therapists can both treat existing problems and provide preventive health care for people with a variety of needs (Physical Therapy-Improving 1). Physical therapists are very knowledgeable and skillful concerning the human body. Physical therapy is a complex, but rewarding field to pursue as a career. Specialization, working conditions, job outlook, salaries, and education requirements need to be taken into consideration when contemplating a career as a physical therapist.
As I have grown up in rural West Virginia, I have seen good education but I think I could possibly make it better. I also believe that rural areas have some of the best teachers. To some people, education is one of those easy careers that men and women choose to pursue because of the long vacations, the daytime hours, and the opportunity to sit behind a desk. To me, education keeps the teachers young by having the opportunity to be a mentor, a nurse, a friend, a coach, and many other things. My philosophical views are very eclectic. I know I will not have one style of teaching because I do not agree with exactly one. Many examples from each describe my future teaching methods. I am partial to the euphoric feeling I get when the teachers know you by name and you anticipate having those well-known teachers. I hope that in the years to come, I will be one of those teachers.
For many years we have used energy to power our houses, cars, and cities. Most people are concerned with the energy we are using kills our planet. We have developed ways to combat that issue using natural renewable resources one example is nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is generating electricity from an atom’s center, or the nucleus. There are two ways to harvest the energy, though fusion, and fission.
When the Social Security Act was enacted by President Roosevelt, it was in order to help the millions of people adversely affected by the great depression. At that time the average life expectancy was just over fifty years. Fast forward to 2016 where the average life span in the United States is approaching eighty. There are still many people who believe that Social Security is Socialist in nature but would have to disagree with that. Deductions are taken from both the employee and their employer throughout a person’s work history and you must have compiled at least 10 years before you are eligible to receive payments. Of course, over the years it has expanded from simply being a “retirement plan”, to include several various assistance programs, but for this paper, I will be focusing on the primary plan, its problems and various solutions.
Becoming a teacher was not something I always knew I wanted. As I approached an age where I really started considering what I would like to do for a career I only knew that I did not want to work in an office behind a desk all day. I wanted a job that would be interactive, challenging and exciting. I also knew I wanted a job that would be important and would somehow contribute to the world in an important way. I thought being a teacher; particularly a teacher in the primary levels would fulfill those hopes and goals assuming I dedicate myself to becoming an effective teacher who has a positive influence on the lives of my students.
Upon being faced with the task of writing my philosophy of teaching, I made many attempts to narrow the basis for my philosophy down to one or two simple ideas. However, I quickly came to the realization that my personal teaching philosophy stems from many other ideas, philosophies, and personal experiences. I then concentrated my efforts on finding the strongest points of my personal beliefs about teaching and what I have learned this semester, and came up with the following.
I believe that education should be looked as as a desire to acquire all possible knowledge, not as a requirement or something that can be formally examined by standardized tests. There are numerous ways that children learn and I want to be able to encourage as much learning as possible for each child. I believe that using many methods of instruction is the most effective way of teaching to these various ways of learning. These methods include group work, hands-on activities, buddy work, etc. Assessment of children should follow the same idea. When children get the chance to perform on different assessments, they can adequately show their strengths and weaknesses. I do not wish to rely on tests only to assess the students in my class. Some types of assessment that I think should be inlcuded in a classroom are journals, presentations, projects and interviews. I also think that the classroom should be run with the help of the children. By distributing jobs among the children and everyone participating in the classroom, the students will form a sense of togetherness. This will eventually create a community within the classroom. I feel that this community of learners is essential for the students to perform effectively and efficiently. They will feel comfortable in the environment and will not be afraid to take risks or ask questions. The teacher will also be a member of this community and will not be seen as unapproachable or as the only leader.

The one belief I had about teaching that has changed since I began this unit, is that all teachers, more or less, taught in the same way. Perhaps this is a belief that I had formed from my own time at school, where all my teachers taught in the same way; some were more or less effective, but I wasn’t aware of them using theories or methods as such, more that they were or weren’t kind people. This belief has changed and it has really opened my ideas to the many creative models, and instructional methods a teacher can use.
