My Personal Strengths In Nursing School

The first level of nursing school was challenging to say the least; adjusting to the new program and finding the best way to take in all the information are skills that will benefit me in my nursing career. This paper is going to discuss my personal strengths through level one, how I am going to build on my foundational skills, any goals I have and how I expect to achieve those goals in my next year and a half. I believe that one strength I never knew I had, was the ability to identify within myself the need for a change in my habits if I wanted to succeed in the program. I realized even before the first exam that my study habits were insufficient, and my social habits would have to be cut down. I have also learned that I am passionate about becoming a nurse and taking care of people when they need it the most. I asked myself during the semester if I would be spending so much time and energy doing this if I really didn’t have a passion for it. I set this goal for myself not that I would ever know where I stood among my classmates, but that it would be an inner motivation that would drive my learning and studying. By setting this goal for myself I knew it would motivate me to learn and apply myself more which in turn would help make me a better nurse once I graduate. Another goal that I set for myself is to also remind myself that every situation I am put into is a learning experience. If situations arise where I make a mistake or I cannot please everyone, I need to use it as a learning experience to better myself and the care that I am providing.
