Eight thousand feet up on the rocky terrain of YellowStone National Park is where I realized my passion for my job. Two years prior to this experience I never would have thought a simple job application would have opened my eyes to so many experiences and opportunities and eventually changing my life for the better. In the Summer of 2014 I applied for a job at Groundwork Lawrence, a non-profit organization that caters to community relations and making the city of Lawrence a better place to live. I started the first day with expected nervousness. Walking into the cramped room I felt nervous. The first of many days where I would change for the better had started. Everyday I came into work was another day being exposed to something new and different. Everyday was another day where I would break out of the shell I was in. The months passed by and I continued to grow as a person. As summer approached, I was told there was a trip to YellowStone National Park and they offered me a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend there. I thought to myself how big of an opportunity this is for me, I know it would be an amazing experience. I could not turn it down. Spending a week close to the wilderness and close to the wildlife in such a big place like YellowStone. I wanted to explore every nook and cranny YellowStone had to offer, All the amazing views which made me breathless. All the places from Bunsen peak to the Mammoths hot springs and even the work I did there opened my eyes to all the efforts my job goes through to keep the environment in great shape for the generations to come. Every new experience there will be forever engraved into my head. It was something so new to me and I wa truly amazed by the beauty of this place and also focused on the change that I would make while
