Recall When I first decided to come to college for nursing after staying in university for three years, I had an argument with my parents because they were not happy with my decision. My parents just wanted me to finish rest of my degree and they thought that it did not make sense to go to college for diploma, and not complete the university degree. However, I just wanted to complete my nursing diploma in the same amount of time that I can finish my degree in the university because I always wanted to be a nurse. Throughout my life I have overcome many obstacles. I have worked and gone to school since I was 17, I paid for my housing, and I paid my necessities. In the past when I was unsure what I wanted to do with my life I struggled in school. I was a “B” and “C” student. I had a hard time finding something that really interested me. Fortunately, when I started working in healthcare I knew this was a career field I wanted to pursue. As my goals went up and solidified, so did my grades. I am proud to say I am a solid “A” and “B” student. And as I worked my way through the grapevine of jobs and aspirations I found that nursing was what my heart set upon.

Since I was in grade school I’ve always wanted to have a profession in which I felt that I could help others. Senior year of high school is supposed to be the hardest year for students,it's the make it or break it, now or never. For some senior year is a breeze with mostly elective classes. However one thing that most senior is that they don't know what they want to do after high school. As a child, I watched the sky with wide eyes each time an airplane flew overhead. My imagination ran wild as I pictured these huge machines that could take a person from one place to the next in barely no time at all. In the state of Florida, an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is defined by s. 464.003, Florida Statutes, as any person licensed in this state to practice professional nursing and certified in advanced or specialized nursing practice. This is how I would orientate the new nurse on the concepts of SNT. I would first find out if he or she has done Nursing informatics in nursing school. If the answer is yes, then I know somewhere along the line that SNT would not be new to the nurse. On the other hand, if SNT was not a part of the new nurse curriculum, then I know that I would have to start from the basics of informatics (data to wisdom leading up to the fundamental concept of SNT). Many years ago I remember my parents telling me that in order for me to become successful a college education was a must. They always told me that if I wasn’t in school I could no longer live at home. Both of my parents attended college but neither of them finished. They did not want me to go down that same road because they really regret not getting their degrees.
On the first day of the school, I was thrilled, excited, not knowing what the school meant, how to hold pencil, start the alphabetical letters but when the teacher came in the class, the very first thing I learn to say was "good morning teacher". The teacher then taught me how to hold the pencil correctly and draw lines back and forth, after I could hold the pencil well, than I started to learn my alphabets. I was happy because I knew to learn and write. As the days passed by I grew up and started to learn more about English, Mathematics and all the other subjects. So when I was asked about my goal, my immediate response would always be "to become a nurse".
