Mannes Music School Orchestra is great. You don’t need a penny in your pocket to see them perform at the famous Lincoln Center. Well, not so fast I was lucky to get a free ticket ten minutes before the show start. I was surprised to see that the theater was filled with people. Everyone seems to be excited to see the show. The audience was very diverse from older generation to younger generation. The students are talented; they all play well especially the bass players. I was shocked to see that they had to stand and hold such a large instrument and play at the same time. Theme was classical music. They play for different type of music and there was a piece for everyone to enjoy.

The conductor opens the show with music by Vares. The arrangement of the music was unorthodox and only had about seven students. This was nothing I ever heard in music class. All I hear are loud sound of student banging on drums, bells and other the instrument making a lot of noises. It wasn’t until I started hearing a familiar sound I said to myself “this sound like the music form the movie Godzilla”. I quickly look up at the composer for assurance. This was more like what I was use to in music class. All members of the orchestra were already on stage then came the concertmaster everyone applauded her. She played a couple music notes with the orchestra before the conductor joins them. The Conductor conducted a symphony by Feldman. The music starts out with a slow tempo. The melody was soft and mellow. The Trombone had a ball instrument place inside the opening. This is to make the music sound softer.
