“Home is now behind you. The World is Ahead.”-- The Hobbit. New country, new life, and new challenges. A person experiences all of these things when he/she migrates from one country to another. Major reasons for a person to leave his/her home behind and start a new life in a new country is mostly to have a great career, to have a better lifestyle, and to have a better future. It is a paradigm to start all over when your life already exists elsewhere. What a person called home is no longer home, but a faraway place where his/her’s deepest and sacred memories are. Living in a new country can be tempting, but can also give opportunities that could direct a person to achieve experience. Learning a new language can be a very difficult task or can be very simple and pleasant as walking at the beach. A language barrier can cause problems for an individual; for example, one could face difficulties while trying communicate. When I came to the US in 2011, I did not understand English very well. Not knowing the language, caused me to have to wait for my luggage for two weeks. It is more difficult for person aged forty to learn a new language than a teenager. Language barriers can cause a person to depend on a friend or his/her kids. A language barrier could cause a person to lose the confidence to learn a new language. For example, when I first started working at a gas station, I hardly communicated with my customers. I was not able to start a conversation with any customer, in fear of “ what if i say something wrong and everybody makes fun of me”, but my dad, mom, and uncle started yelling and getting angry at me for not communicating with any customers. Somehow, I started talking to every customer because my dad forced me to, and that helped me to overcome my fear. That day I got my confidence back, and since then I am not afraid to communicate. Since one is living in another country, with different customs and traditions from his/her, he/she has to develop oneself to fit in. Meaning to, make new friends, understand their points of view, and even accept their different values. Many traditions vary from one country to another, therefore, a person should learn to respect the true knowledge of their traditions and values. However, that does not mean to forget all their important values and tradition, the best thing to do would be to stay glued to one's important values and change the ones he/she believes can be improved. Thirdly, the effect of moving to another country is lifestyle. Lifestyle can make a huge difference in one's life. For example, my family and I moved to the US to have a good lifestyle, but that does not mean that we did not have a good lifestyle in India; we moved to have a better lifestyle than we had in India. Having a good lifestyle does not mean to have five cars, and to have ten servants, but having a good living standard is a way of living of individuals, families, and societies; to maintain a safe and securely balanced
