As this years Super Bowl came to an end, a new beginning followed with new campaigns for many companies in hopes to gain new and old customers. For Mountain Dew, they advertised a specific product of theirs, the Mountain Dew Kickstart. This year’s commercial for Mountain Dew Kickstart, was called PuppyMonkeyBaby and created quite a buzz about the strange, yet funny commercial.
Before the commercial first aired on television, Mountain Dew posted short clips previewing the creature known as PuppyMonkeyBaby on their social media websites, mainly Facebook. On their Facebook page you can see all of the clips, both before and after the commercial aired.
If you have never seen the commercial, you might be wondering what is a puppymonkeybaby? The commercial claims Mountain Dew Kickstart is three awesome things in one. This is the dew, juice, and caffeine and

Mountain Dew posted a few thing after the Super Bowl and even started selling merchandise and ringtones. Mountain Dew took the commercial to a new level, including their website. When you go to their homepage, you will immediately see the PuppyMonkeyBaby creature. This advertisement is their main campaign right now, but is not their only promotion. They also have another campaign out with the NBA which feature three of their athletes.
Their website includes multiple tabs that you could click on. There is a page all for the puppymonkeybaby commercial. The page includes the commercial video through youtube, the different flavors of Mountain Dew Kickstart which includes a link to the nutritional facts, and at the bottom of the page you can create your own creature. (Mountain Dew)
If you click on a drink, you are brought to a new page that shows all the nutritional facts. The page also shows different tabs about the overall PepsiCo, which includes their brand, their product choices, information, and responsible marketing. From that page, their brand is as
The viewer will see how constant Maddie has been throughout the woman’s life. Maddie was with the woman for all of the good times and the bad times. Maddie was in this woman’s biggest and happiest occasions, including the woman’s graduation. This trigger is effective because people with animals know the estimated life span of that animal. The woman got Maddie when she was younger. The woman knew she would have Maddie in her life while she grew up. When the woman got older she would realize that she would outlive the dog. The commercial uses people’s natural tendencies to nurture and love pets and peoples need for companionship to draw
The look on the man’s face when he looks up portrays the emotions that the audience is feeling: shock, joy, and relief. Finally the sun comes back out and the man has both his dog and his horse back at home. There are many rhetorical strategies that Budweiser uses in their advertisement. The biggest being pathos. They use pathos in almost every aspect of their commercial. By changing the lighting, music, and overall relatability they are able to change the audience’s emotions. They also use ethos in their commercial by always reminding you of their brand.
The advertisement opens with Dean Winters in a black business suit with a butterfly band-aid on his upper right cheek, just below his eye. Winters is in the back seat of an SUV. He is holding a purple and yellow sippy cup, which has two handles on either side of it. In his lap is a gallon size bag of Cheerios, which he is consuming with his left hand. On his left is a grey sun blocker; most mothers have to protect their children from the sun while they are in the car. On Winter’s left, a clothes hanger has a pink and green cloth ball tied to a purple string. Winters has crumbs covering not only him but also his car seat. Behind his car seat is a yellow blanket. As soon as the commercial opens, Winters is screaming "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" Three seconds into screaming, he looks directly at the viewer with a sly...
This commercial can be found on YouTube and is aired on numerous T.V. channels including KITV 4. The actress in the first commercial is a junior at Mililani High School. This add targets the teenage audience because the campaign has found that consumption of sugary drinks in Hawaii is highest among teens ("Rethink", par.
The second reason why I believe that this commercial is aimed at children is the fact there are no any adult characters but children and the teddy bears. This picture is to make children believe that by eating the Weetabix chocolate they will be “FUELED FOR FUN” just like the little girl in the video, who amazes her friends by what she can do with just a spoon of Weetabix chocolate. It is basically the children and the dolls, integrated with energy filled music that provokes the sense of “want” in children who sees the video. The first girl who is dancing represents the child who eats the Weetabix chocolate while the lads sitting amazed represent the collection who do not indulge themselves in Weetabix, they lack the fuel to be amazing and that is why they sit in wonder. The dolls are for positive association as they create a positive feeling of belonging and familiarity to children, as they are children’s favourite and thus I believe by associating the dolls and dancing with Weetabix, every time a child thinks of music or teddy bears the first thought that will come to them is the
For example, the idea of the commercial itself is a sort of appeal to false authority. The whole ad is based on how if you drink Dr. Pepper 10, you’ll be manly like Grizzly Adams. Another noticeable fault was used in the closing of the commercial where Grizzly says, “Mmm, bold flavor.” Bold flavor is an ambiguous statement and very subjective. What is clear is that the Dr. Pepper 10 advertisers are trying word play to suck buyers in. Several commercials have used the phrase, “Bold flavor,” in advertisements before. This just further weakens Dr. Pepper’s
In this Charmin commercial, the author is the Charmin Company. The bears are used as the speakers for Charmin. They are cute, lovable, and are appealing to most people. They were not always in the Charmin commercials however. The first Charmin bear was introduced in 2001, and then the cubs the following year. They were a big hit with the public so the company continues to use them as the mascots/speakers for Charmin toilet paper. The bears are a big help in selling the product.
As a car drives by the window, the viewer sees the dog lift his head up and lay it down when he realizes it is not his owner. After this scene, the following words are shown on the commercial, “For some, the waiting never ended. But we can change that.” According to MADD, “In 2015, 10,265 people died in drunk driving crashes… 290,000 were injured in drunk driving crashes.” The next morning the owner walks in through the door and says, “I decided I shouldn’t drive home last night”, this shows how responsible the owner is because he does not want to hurt others if he had drove while drunk. In the background, the viewer hears the lyrics, “I’ll be waiting here for you, when you come home to me…” which supports the fact that the dog has been waiting all night for the owner to come back safe and sound. The next scene in the commercial says, “Make a plan to make it home. Your friends are counting on you.” By having the saying in third person, the commercial is trying to persuade the reader to drink responsibly because there is always someone waiting at home. In the end credits, the viewer sees the famous Budweiser logo with the hashtag friends are waiting. In the bottom of the ad, the Budweiser commercial had the words “Enjoy responsibly” on
The commercial that I chose as my favorite commercial from the night was the Colgate Save Water commercial. The creators of the advertisement used all three of the modes of persuasion: logos, ethos, and pathos to appeal to the target audience. Knowing that over 100 million people would be tuning in to view the Super Bowl game as well as the commercials, the creators knew what appealing approach to take regarding the audience.
The commercial had a deeper meaning throughout to depict the audience, purpose, content, creator’s reasons, and the structure of the video. The audience was aimed for teenagers, smokers, and parents. The purpose was to show how smoking was bad a bad effect on a person’s life. Throughout the commercial were phrases to influence people on how terrible to smoke. The creator of the video obviously wanted to show teenagers how that smoking will pull you away from your life. The structure of the commercial was well organized to leave a lasting effect on the reasons why smoking is bad for a
Budweiser's heartwarming 2014 Super Bowl commercial (in which a puppy befriends a horse) has been ranked the most popular ad ever to air in the 50-year history of the NFL's premier event, according to a study from TiVo.
The second commercial also uses pathos because of its ability to make viewers happy and give them a new sense of creativity. The little boy seen in the video walks into Jackson's dressing room trying on much of his clothing including a fedora hat, like Jackson in the video wore, he throws it in the air, imagining that he is a megastar performing in front of thousands of people. Viewers who then see the commercial will think that if they buy Pepsi they will have the imagination to be whoever they want to
Although I liked all 3 of these commercials, the ones that I would choose are the Cheetah and Mock Opera commercials. They are the most creative, have the best graphics and will give Mountain Dew the best chance to get the post Super Bowl advertising media exposure. The exposure that Mountain Dew will get following the Super Bowl may be greater than what the ads can accomplish themselves.

Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers. Children sing the catch phrase over and over throughout the entirety of the commercial. By the time the commercial ends the line and products are inevitably stuck in a child’s mind. The commercial says”.and my mom says. that’s okay,” which implies to children that their parents will allow them to eat this snack.
