Many Individuals rely on woodworking for income, shelter, transportation, and other necessities for survival. Woodworking is an excellent way to express ones creativity and skills. Woodworking is a fine art that is able to improve several factors of life if used correctly. Many individuals find woodworking appealing due to it’s usefulness and it’s lucrative ventures. Woodworking is an extremely reliable craft developed into an interesting form of art and architecture. Woodworking has become an international hobby that developed from ancient civilization. Some people take great pride in creating furniture for their homes. Some of these pieces can become heirlooms which can then be handed down for generations. Several individuals use woodworking as a relaxation tools. A time-honored method of relaxation is wood carving or “whittling”. Some of these pieces can be quite intricate and consist of movng parts. This is the method by which most toys were made before the Industrial Revolution. Some of these toy are now quite valuable. Woodworking is used in several aspects of life for many individuals. Several individuals use woodworking to construct their own furniture, shelter, transportation, and luxuries. Several individuals learn how to construct useful projects in order to increase their quality of life. There are many woodworking projects that many take for granted. Woodworking is involved in caskets, guitars, piano making, and other important items involved in life and entertainment. Woodworking allows many individuals to posses items they may have not been able to obtain otherwise. Woodworking can also be used to decorate. Many individuals express their artistic beliefs and artistic skills. There are many different competitions and local events used to gauge individuals’ woodworking skill. Building swings or picnic tables can be a lucrative small business. These items are often sold by roadside vendors, which keeps overhead low. There are many different projects an individual can complete. One of which is to build a canoe. A canoe is a type of aquatic transportation propelled by paddles. The individual constructing the canoe must cut several strips of wood. A canoe requires about 68 strips. Each strip must be carefully glued together to form a watertight seal. After the canoe has been assembled the individual must construct the seats and paddles. If creating the seat from scratch the individual must weave the seat. The paddles can be cut from any type of wood the individual desires. After constructing the canoe the boat must be sanded. Many individuals use a belt sander to complete this long, grueling, and arduous task. Fiberglass is applied to the entire craft and allowed to dry. It takes approximately 80 man hours to complete a strip canoe. After completing all these steps the individual will have a unique work of art. Canoe building is a very rewarding task. Many other smaller projects can be just as rewarding. Many individuals create birdhouses and other smaller items used to beautify the environment.
