Every action of Jesus carried a specific message, not just a random act. In the New Testament, the word “miracle” and the word "sign" both come from the same Greek word "semeion" meaning something hidden and secret. A miracle is something impossible for us to do and in some unexplained way changes the course of nature. Through his miracles, he revealed himself as the Messiah. Proved that the Kingdom of God has come for a place on Earth. Jesus’ miracles are not chance, luck, or good fortune. They’re the power of God. Healing was essential to the ministry of Jesus because He had the power to perform miracles. Physical Healings demonstrates Jesus’ power over sin and reveal that the coming of God’s Kingdom. In a physical miracle, such as making the blind see, or walking on water, or calming a storm. In Luke's Gospel, for example, Jesus healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. He also healed a leper who approached him with faith, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean” (Luke 5:12). Jesus stretched out his hand and touched the leper and cured him. With only a word he forced out the evil spirits and healed everyone who was sick. So God’s promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said, “He healed our diseases …show more content…
Jesus performed them to establish his power over Satan and the demons who war against God’s purposes and tempt humans to do evil. Satan always tries to counter God's work, and thus the years surrounding Jesus' ministry saw a marked rise in demonic activity. “In the miracles, (Matthew 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-20; and Luke 8:26-39), Jesus Christ commands unclean spirits to come out of two men. Demons must obey Jesus even if people do not. Even so, the demons do not obey Christ's command immediately. They object, unwilling to abandon their victims. Christ could have compelled them to come out of the men immediately if He had wished, but the men may not have been able to survive the exorcism on their own
As we know, the Lord provided his people with many miracles throughout the Old Testament. These miracles date back to Moses, where God granted his people the ability to perform miracles and also interact with them. By interact, this means things like the parting of the Red Sea, or the tunnel of fire that allowed the Israelites to travel safely through the ni...

The fifth miracle was walking on water. This shows Jesus' power over natural laws. (Towns). Jesus saw the disciples fighting for their lives on a stormy sea and he walks toward them.

Miracles are a staple to Christianity; thus, if Jesus Christ is not God in the flesh, and if Jesus’ resurrection did not really happen, then the Christian Faith is a complete lie (Douglas & Tenney, 2010, p. 958). Furthermore, if the miracle of grace falls short of being verifiable in the transformed life of a believer, then the Christian gospel is also a fraud (Douglas & Tenney, 2010). Without miracles, Christianity ceases to exist. Miracles, recorded in the Bible, began with creation itself and ended with the apostles. Although it is commonly believed that the supernatural miracles found in the Bible, ended with apostles, miracles are still possible today since God is immutable, and never changes (Psalm 33:11). Thus, a miracle can be characterized as an extraordinary, supernatural event that is orchestrated by God in nature, or in human affairs (Douglas & Tenney, 2010).
The New Testament is primarily about Jesus’ ministries and teachings. As Jesus traveled from country to country during his last three years on earth, He performed many miracles and healings of sick, lame, and demon-possessed people. As a student, I can relate to this tremendously, since I am studying pre-physical therapy. "A physical therapist can help injured or ill people improve their movement and manage their pain. These therapists are often an important part of rehabilitation and treatment of patients with chronic conditions or injuries (Occupational Outlook Handbook-Physical Therapists, 2014)." Similarly to Jesus, I can help people and maybe even help heal their injuries as a physical therapist. However, Jesus is the ultimate healer that can work through me to make this possible.
“While claiming full unity and equality with God, Jesus was very active as a teacher and healer. Through his parables, direct teaching on important topics, and miracles, Jesus used commonplace human situations to tell us about God’s interest in each of us, the way to make good choices in our life, and about the Kingdom” (Adult Learner’s Guide).
Moses is related to the Prophet Abraham. He is a direct descendant from Abraham in fact Abraham is Moses’ great-great-great-great grandfather. Other than being a descendant, Moses demonstrated he had the faith of Abraham. Moses possessed the promise of Abraham by being one of the first prophets and leaders of God's people for then until God's promise could be fulfilled with the first coming of Jesus.
Can you imagine being an outcast? What about discovering that you are the son of God? How would it feel to have people who you do not even know try to harm and possibly even kill you for protecting mankind? Could you stay strong through it all? One person did not have to imagine this, and that person was named Jesus Christ. Although Jesus went through all these awful things, and more, he still managed to show strength and willingness. These details about Jesus have led to a very obvious question: What qualities does Jesus have that helped affect people around the world? In order to answer this question, two main points must be addressed: Jesus Christ’s Strength; the strength he presented in his personal life, the strength of his followers, and last but not least his willingness to love and forgive unconditionally. Once these points are addressed, it can be clear that Jesus Christ showed an abundance amount of strength and willingness; not only in his personal life, but also in the lives of his followers.
As we read John, we see that the stories center around the concept of belief. In the second chapter of John, we are told of the miracle that Jesus did at a wedding: turning water into wine. This miracle was told so that we may believe. “Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him” (John 2:11). Through these miracles we are able to see signs of Jesus’s power and glory and how God’s presence is in him, leading many to believe in him. After this, Jesus went to Capernum, then Jerusalem to the temple, where he found people selling things
In both the Gospel of Mark and the Gospel of John, Jesus perform many miracles, but the most notable one is the healing miracle that Jesus performs. Diseases and physical impairments are symbolisms of spiritual uncleanliness and sins, and Jesus’ healings restore their complete bodily function as well as the spiritual well being. The healing illustrates the relationship between men and Jesus through the value, faith. The function of Jesus’s healing are very much alike in both the Gospels of Mark and John because it serves more than simple physical healing. It not only establishes faith in Jesus and His power, but it also confirms and supports pre-existing faith in Jesus. His healing also serves as a kind of societal purification, which is shown
Jesus used many signs that is written in the book of John, the seven signs of miracles is just a few that was recorded in the gospel of John. Although, the disciples followed Jesus during His ministry, they did not really know Him. Christ is and was the divine Holy Spirit that walked on earth to atone the sins of many. These signs was used to prove that Jesus is the Messiah who comes to restore the sin of humankind. These seven signs were use to build the faith in Christ. Nevertheless, Christ is the Son of God, He is the prophet and the Christ our Lord Jesus. Who died for our sin and rose from the dead and ascend into Heaven. Basically, these signs of John was written to those who were spiritually blind. The passage of this essay will be (John 1:12-18; 9:1-41 and 20: 30-31).
In conclusion Jesus could perform miracles and the way he did them strengthened his message. The performance of miracles did strengthen his message because of the witnesses that had seen him. Even though there were many doubts about Jesus there were also people who knew he was working for God.
Whether it is a volcano erupting, or someone recovering from cancer, miracles happen often and always happen for a purpose. When God performs a miracle, he is delivering a message to someone. Often the message is unclear but Christians and other people are to find out what the message says and act upon it accordingly.
