Military Technology
In today’s world technology affects us in so many aspects of our lives and it’s everywhere. Especially here in the U.S we rely on it to help make America better. Through the years technology has changed the military and security forces like TSA. This new technology can save lives, provide safety and even change warfare as we know it.
Probably the most important thing that these machines can do is save lives. As technology advances we are starting to see more and more unmanned vehicles. Such as bomb disposing robots or UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). UAV’s are capable of carrying out different types of missions without anybody in them. Since they are controlled from a base if the UAV crashes then nobody dies. Another piece is the bomb disposal robot. Bomb robots began being used in the 1970s (Baker 1). Bomb robots can either disarm bombs or rig them to explode (Baker 1). The types of robots and the technology they use has changed greatly. UAVs have five main uses target, recon, combat, research, and civil use (UAV 1). The first model of railguns is expected to see combat between 2020-2025 (Railguns 1). Railguns in the long term are more cost effective than the weapons we see today because they don’t use gunpowder or explosives (Railguns 1). Railguns can be used in many different ways such as being mounted on a boat or a trailer or can be placed on a building. Railguns even have the capability to fire projectiles at Mach 6 or even Mach 7 which is 6-7 times as fast as the speed of sound (Railguns 1). The way that weapons have changed overtime is just incredible. We go from one-shot muskets up weapons capable of firing hundreds of rounds per minute. Railguns especially are amazing.
