Mental Images In My Antonia

461 Words1 Page

In the novel My Antonia, Willa Cather did an excellent job of creating mental images. A few images that linger in my mind are Jim killing the rattlesnake, Jim's return to Antonia's home after so many years of not seeing each other, and Jim's surprise to all of Antonia's children. An author that is able to create mental images while you are reading, in my opinion, is the best type of authors. Cather was able to make the story interesting throughout. She put detail in her writing and made her point clear about what she was trying to tell the reader. The images that stuck out to my most in this story were when Jim killed the rattlesnake, Jim visiting Antonia after many years, and Jim's reaction when Antonia introduced all of her children.
