Throughout to existence of the world, many forms of government have been created, but the most influential form of government was the feudal system. Economy played a huge role in the feudal system because everyone was dependent on each other to meet the needs of themselves and others. The military of the feudal system was based off of the knight’s fighting in battle because the king gives them incentive to fight. The cultural aspects of the feudal system played a huge role in the life of the social classes. The feudal system was a form of government that contributed to the needs of all of the social classes including the knight’s, who impacted the feudal system greatly.

The kinds of weapons and armor that the knights used varied. Early medieval knights wore light armor made of mail (Nardo 34). Mail was a type of material that when struck, it would prevent major penetration. Some of the weapons they used were swords, throwing spears, and sometimes bows (Nardo 35). Knights fought with lances on horseback. When off their horse, fought with swords (Shuter). Foot soldiers guarded the castle and fought for the lord. They fought with daggers, pikes, crossbows, and longbows (Bingham 25). Knights had complex weapons for battle which was crucial for survival. The types of battle training that the knights did also varied. Knights had tournaments regularly show train and show off skills (Shuter). A melee was group practice. A melee was where knights would practice warrior skills in a mock battle (Quigley 13). The knights also competed in jousts. The church created the Great Chain of Being which was that everything had a place in the world. This chain of being had a huge impact on feudalism. The church said that God had made an unchanged order for everything in the world (Richardson). Everything had a place in the world or a rank (Melani). The church said to the serfs that if they had a bad life now, it will be better in heaven. Saying this made the serfs have something to look forward too (Melani). People regarded the church as means to eternal life. Church promised a future life and heaven of peace to the villagers who lived a tough life (King 41). Churches taught that hard labor should be apart of everyday life not just the peasant's (King 45). This is why the serfs thought that it was okay that they worked all day and all week.
