There are many responsibilities that go hand in hand while being in Medical Office Management. Being a leader is a significant skill that is required for the job, and it is one I feel I have, but can always improve on. While there are many other skills one will need to be a successful Medical Manager, they are ones that are learned in time. Many of which are taught during certification programs and on the job experience. Being fit to be a Medical Office Manager is crucial. There are long work days full of paperwork and meeting with executives, as well as crunching numbers and overseeing employees. Setting goals through the day and long term goals, will help me and others be effective leaders. Many people are confused when it comes to the question “what is it that Medical Office Managers (MOM’s) do?” And up until a certain point of research, I wasn 't confident that I knew the answer to that myself. But, in plain and simple terms, a Medical Office Manager typically manages a medical office of some kind. A MOM will need to consider budget reports and look at the overall financial intake of a department, and effectively know how to set rules and guidelines to stay within a budget. Knowing numbers will be key when in this positon. Focus and good listening skills will also be important, since the manager is often the first sought out when an issue
