Mayor Alai was elected Mayor in November 2007 and was reelected in November 2011. Before that, he served as Council President from 2005-2007 and Council President Pro-Tem from 2003-2005. Mayor Alai also participates in the North Royalton/Broadview Heights Rotary, Chemical abuse Prevention Association (CAPA), and Knights of Columbus. He has a B.A. in Political Science and History from Baldwin-Wallace College. Mayor Alai is married to Terry Alai, who works as a special education teacher in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District. The Mayor also has the power to appoint, promote, transfer, reduce or remove any officer or employee of the City, except those who are elected. The Mayor represents the Executive branch of the government, which enforces the law. The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the city. He executes on behalf of the City all contracts and is the official and ceremonial head of the City. Mayor Alai also serves as Safety Director. There are three way to contact the mayor. Brian Wolf serves upon the Board of Zoning Appeals, Energy Commission, Charter Review Board, Growth, Planning and Zoning Commission's, Human Services Advisory Board, and the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District. George Stelmaschuk serves upon the Finance Committee. Robert Boldt serves the Planning Commission, Recreational Board, and the Finance Committee. Joe Price serves the Finance Committee and the Energy Committee. Glenn Goodwin has served all of the committees during his time as a city council member of Broadview Heights. He is currently the Chairman of the Rules, Ordinances, and Franchises committee as well as a member of the Growth, Planning, and Zoning Committee.
