Our team:
The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s of Alabama is comprised of two world class surgeons: Drs Kathlyn Powell, D.M.D, M.D and Peter Waite D.M.D, M.D. Dr. Powell is the state of Alabama’s first dedicated pediatric oral surgeon and is an associate professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Dentistry. Dr. Waite serves as Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and also as a full time professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Dentistry.
Mission:
The goal of the Oral and Maxillofacial Department is to provide the best patient care in order to train the next generation. The University of Alabama at Birmingham offers the Advanced Education Program, designed to meet the requirements of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
