Martin Luther King was a civil rights leader, he was born in Alabama in 1929. He atteneded to Segreagated schools and got his doctarate degree in theology from Boston University. In 1957, King had orginized the SCLC which meant Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The SCLC protested non violence. They did marches, demonstrations and boycotts. They disrupted segregated businesses and wanted them to grant more rights to African Americans. In the protest of 1969 the SCLC's gained more national attention, during the protest of Alabama King got arrested and sent to jail. While he was in jail he wrote a letter that argued that people had the more responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Then the civil rights moevement gained more support
